To be honest this is excellent considering that Peel is the worst of the Island beaches for sewage. To be honest the pictured shower would be more that sufficient as long as it squirts freshwater.

A commissioner abusing her position as a commissioner when a decision she was rightly been exempted from didn’t go her way. This petition is a plain abuse of power and deliberate manipulation of public opinion. But that’s what these sad local authority despots always do when they don’t get their own way. I don’t know any of the individuals involved. But surely a commissioner abusing their power would have got this sorted out behind the scenes? If someone is adversely affected by a decision they should have the right to protest, commissioner or not. It’s surely wrong to say that someone cannot use their influence as a commissioner *or* use their legal right to object as a member of the public. The bureaucrats are now over-regulating everything to death. Us in the Finance industry will agree that a bit of regulation is a good thing, but they are now taking it too far and creating a nightmare for business. Unfortunately the FSA themselves are subject to scrutiny by the various European and International bodies. So rather than being helpful and offering guidance as they did for most of their time in their guise as the FSC they now have to demonstrate how tough they are in terms of imposing onerous restrictions and operating procedures issuing fines and disqualifying directors, officers etc. Edited July 19, 2022 by The Voice of Reason
hissingsid
Whatever the reason the Commissioners have to take this action mid season without formulating any concrete plan to go forward is petty and shows how these tin pot politicians operate, it is pathetic in the extreme.
hissingsid
The petition is still going strong, unfortunately not usually effective. They are talking about reducing local authorities down to five and Douglas if this is the way Garff behave they can stay on their own no one will want to join up with these no marks. In this present time where there is a lot off uncertainty. Why are they hell bent on trying to destroy a cafe after it being in successful business for 15 years ? Something doesn’t add up. The Commissioners have finally replied according to Manx Radio: [...] The local authority says, rather than removing them completely, they're asking the Café to remove its chairs and tables so they can install their own. They're also undertaking work to provide full access to the facilities for those with disabilities, as well as investigating the potential of installing showers and lockers at the site for beach users. The Commissioners say that accusations that contractors had been at the site earlier this week to begin work on the building were untrue, and say they're "puzzled" as to why the tenant would make such a claim. They say the contractor that attended was there to prepare a quote for works to provide disabled access and only took a matter of minutes, adding there was never any intention to begin any building work that day. They also say the tenant, as a serving Garff Comissioner herself, should have some understanding of the procurement procedures that a local authority has to undergo when planning and executing building works. The Commissioners finished by saying they'll make a full announcement of the range of enhancements to the Public Shelter as soon as they have fully discussed and finalised the details. 1 1
Kopek
So to bring the discussion back to the correct forum thread....................... Laxey Comms say that they want to replace the cafe tenants furniture with their own ratepayers funded furniture? Given the propensity of Govt and LAs to overspend, is this a wise move? Was there something wrong with the excising furniture? Seems it needs a wise head is needed to bring the two parties together? Smith???
