Yes, saw Bell in the street this morning, it's a shame that nobody can confront him and ask him what his opinion is on his legacy to the Island, to include the MEA and his failure to address the PS pensions timebomb that he actually warned about in 2006, which gave him ten years to address to his departure in 2016, during which he did nada.

Alf was clearly dangerous to some and needed to be reined in ASAP, fortunately it's been relatively easy and successful which gives an indication as to where the power lies. Shame that a guy who would have been selected for aptitude and training by the British Army in leadership qualities has apparently succumbed so quickly.

Talentless wankers? Well, that's just how we like them, not too many questions asked, easily tamed and led and quickly educated in the benefits of life if you don't rock the boats. Lots of examples in past and present. Worms can turn amazingly quickly if they're fed the right leaf mould.

Was he CM when the MEA took the loans. I thought it was before his time.

Careful, anyone that disagreed with Chairman Cannan's great leap forward will be sent to the labour camps in Jurby (see - new reservoir enabling works)

Almost 100 new people arrived to live in the island in the first half of 2023.

So 200 per year.

At that rate, the 15 year plan will result in 3,000 more people. Way short of the number required for the 100,000 total population target.

98 of them were new Govt employees 🤭.

How many people emigrated or is that an inconvenient question?

What if they all have 3 or 4 babies in the meantime?

Its Christmas bullshit, the only reason people are coming is we are paying them. Then when the time constraints run out on ni holidays and other such incentives they are fucking off with wads of yours and mine money.

there have been more Isle of man roadshows in South africa  recently ,  I wonder how may use it as a stepping stone to get access to the UK

So long as they're targeting doctors, nurses and teachers who are under 35 I'm not bothered.

Chose 35 as an arbitrary age that isn't near retirement. Hopefully there's some sort of constraint in place so they do at least 5 years in iom before going to the UK. No idea if that's possible or not

Could people even be contracted to remain here for a minimum of five years? Perhaps if they were Govt employees but how would one impose it on the private sector?

Being obliged to sign up for such terms might even be a further deterrent to coming here, nobody of the tender age of <35 is going to want to be a "prisoner" here for five years if they (or their family) decide that they don't like it during the first 18 months?

I see Bell is back in the IOM for Xmas. Alf put on a good performance for a few months before he was knobbled. But the CS always wins and it isn’t just the prom. The Liverpool Terminal has likewise been shrugged off. It’s only £100M and hugely over budget hardly anything to get bent out of shape about either. Ranson. Well we will learn some more of those lessons and in the meantime let’s employ another 50 HR experts to make it all even worse in the meantime. This place has totally had it. This current incarnation of Tynwald is full of some of the most useless talentless wankers we’ve ever seen.

Bell certainly had a chequered history, let's not forget he was economical with the truth when misleading Tynwald, but that didn't stop him from getting the top job !

Every DOI Minister in the last 10 years has also been economical with the truth and/or misled Tynwald but Tynwald doesn't appear to be particularly perturbed about it. In fact, they spend most of their time defending or denying it.
