Government can’t help everyone

Seeing as the Manx Labour Party, has continually granny farmed and courted votes, whilst it’s representative has treated the constituency as a fiefdom, I really hope that they are going to repay the poor, vulnerable, the sick, and the dispossessed voters, who won’t be able to afford to heat their homes, with either oil and gas. Those on benefits will find it hard to afford nutritional food, instead of alcohol and cigarettes.

A suggestion - why doesn’t the Manx Labour Party use its Headquarters the Douglas Old Friends Club as a Day Centre, so the poor, vulnerable and dispossessed could sit in warmth, and be fed a free meal? That’s socialism in action. Maybe Daddy could contribute some broken biscuits to go with the tea?

Where is she? She hasn’t been vocal or coming out with ideas! Missing in Action, along with Sarah Maltby, who must be consulting Daddy before making decisions.

What makes you think Sarah Maltby must be consulting with  her father before making decisions?

Just because her father was a politician before her, do you not think she has her own thoughts?

In my own family, although none of us were politicians, we held similar views on some subjects, different opinions on others

Your post is very condescending but about par  for for the course.

There was a post on Jason Moorhouse's Facebook page along the lines of the support package being announced at 7am tomorrow with the embargo being changed.

The CM is seemingly doing Mannin Line on Thursday.

Can’t there being much for the bog standard GMP. It will be enhanced handouts to those already getting. The general taxpayers will probably get no support whatsoever. Hopefully I will be proved wrong and CM Cannan will recognise that it’s not just the poor affected.

Hopefully it's not just another set of handouts to their favoured sectors.

The capping of the electric and the bus fare thing is the right move.

Apparently the electric is done through a £26m loan. I could be wrong, but didn't they make a profit like that last year?

Not sure on profits but the NPM is saying the £26m is to be repaid over 20 years.

Could the bus thing be introduced sooner?

All in all it's not the worst response from Comin.

The JAMs will be unhappy at the child support payments

ETA are they somehow still servicing the MEA legacy loans?

Of course it could but hey ho, it's progress. I'd have offered £10 monthly unlimited travel go cards, but £2 max fare is a good enough start.

They've got to hand out cash to those who need it most, the benefits system is hopelessly inadequate but to make it better will take years of bullshit to get through and they don't want to make those permanent changes. They've not long voted to make Employed Persons Allowance worse. I don't know the ins and outs of who they're targeting, but didn't they reduce (remove?) child benefit for those who are loaded so it might be the best way?

I'm always happy to slate them, but this seems alright.

I’m s bit underwhelmed.

Freexing the electricity consumers still can’t afford. Electricity for businesses is still too expensive and this is causing businesses to close.

Bus Fares - great if you can actually get a bus, that’s on time and not cancelled.

£8 million energy efficiency - wonderful, but it’s hardly going to do much, are there loads of ‘retrofittees’? Or will be it that someone with fingers in IOMG pies or connections hoover up the business?

What about the GMP?

Sorry for the cynicism.
