Fred the shred
The DOI need their funding cut they have overspent on Douglas prom, half inched money set aside for the horse trams not to mention Liverpool landing stage, posh cars to scare birds, no expense spared on other vehicles busses etc, the odd train engine etc etc. This money could be redirected to the health service where it is needed. DOI needs to be put on some kind of special measures and broken up it is far too cumbersome and obviously cannot cope with all the essential services under its control.

Alf did all that when he was DOI minister. Ya know, before he put it in the safe pair of hands that is running it now 🤣🤣

Cabinet office is the one, isn’t it approaching 400 with most executive directors etc.

Words fail.

Not quite true we had an active Police ports unit back as far as the 60's Dudley Butt was one of those involved , they operated under the prevention of terrorism legislation and met every boat and often aircraft , undesirables were sent back on the next boat and suspicious passengers stopped and searched ,and because the unit had a very good relationship (unlike modern policing) with the public their intelligence and information gathering was excellent , every passenger coming in by private plane had to fill in a green card , and all this information was collated and shared with other police forces , but over the years we have gotten lazy , complacent , and allowed all kinds of rabble and on occasion undesirables to pitch up on the isle of man , watering down the work permits which also asked about previous criminal prosecutions and records also also added to the problem where quite frankly we haven't a clue who is here anymore I support the home affairs minister in trying to tighten up but is she looks, apart from ANPR there is existing legislation to do most of this NOW ! and under the maritime security Act (tynwald ) any police officer has the power to stop and search anyone , anywhere in the ports

The ease at which some are able to get work permits is mind boggling really.

Or will we just have lots of DOI vans sitting round with tiny digital cameras taking pictures then manually sorting through them?
