Which government departments are going to willingly take cuts to their budget? Are IOMG going to reduce the civil service headcount? CM Cannan should be announcing all these initiatives in either the HoK or Tynwald. Remember we had departments who overspent last year and had their budget increased by the same amount? Wasn't it around 20 million excluding health?

A special team will be put together to oversee the savings. 15 Managers, 25 Deputies, a legal department, HR and Occupational Health Department. cissolt
Alf does love a strategy. Here's another new one: https://www.businessisleofman.com/localeconomystrategy Looks like it will require another £100,000,000 to achieve anything substantial. No plans for where these extra hospitality workers are going to live though.
2112
The NPM giving CM Cannan plenty of exposure for his propaganda. Now he trying to change the parameters, not growing the population but growing the working population! At the same time of bullshitting his successes, he fails to mention the failures - eg King Gaming fiasco. The chief minister says his administration has overseen the creation of 1300 new jobs and the approval of 800 new homes since 2021, in his opening remarks at the Government Conference today (17 September). Alfred Cannan has been addressing attendees at the Comis Hotel as the two-day event gets underway. He also said his government had overseen £90million in private investment for major infrastructure projects and had invested £18.3million in reducing hospital waiting times. Treasury Minister Alex Allinson is expected to give an announcement on the health service's overspend tomorrow morning (18 September). Earlier this month it was revealed that Manx Care is expecting to exceed its budget by £16.8million. "I think government probably did not get its message right, it was always about growing the working population." - Chief Minister Alfred Cannan Mr Cannan also addressed those targets to boost the Island's population to 100,000 by 2037: Airport Director Gary Cobb and Isle of Man Steam Packet Managing Director Brian Thomson are due to give presentations later this morning regarding connectivity. Image: The audience at the Comis Hotel watching the chief minister's opening address - Manx Radio Nice photo of the great and the good. Surround themselves with like minded and build up their fancy named empires … And our lot of numpties take it in hook line and sinker . God help us all. Breed apart these people …makes my blood boil . You should be applauding the move if it's change about "rightsizing" the CS / PS. Which I doubt. But anyway... When he first raised it he even spoke of disincentives to people looking to retire here, but I don’t think they have actioned any yet.
