Johnson has withdrawn his candidacy. Rishi will be crowned tomorrow.

He never announced his candidacy. It’d have been better all round if he’d said he wasn’t going to stand as soon as he got off his holidays. Now, we all know that about a third of the parliamentary party would have preferred him over Rishi.

Rishi is clearly the right choice, but he is going to be leading a divided party until 2024, tops.

None of them were technically candidates until nominations close tomorrow and they got/get 100 nominations.

I get the feeling, despite the bravado, that Johnson realised he couldn’t reach 100.

I don’t think Rishi will make it through to the end of the parliamentary term. The right, Mogg, Pritti, Suella, Francois, won’t be easy to control.

Boris never said he was standing, then  withdrew- from something he had never said he was standing for.

Just another reminder of what a complete arse of a bloke he is with no clue as to what is actually going on.

Attention seeking low life lier and a cheat.

Like many of them. All these guys backing Boris now backpedalling and supporting Rishi, presumably in the hope of a cabinet job. Nadhim Zahawi for example. According to the Beeb, he published an article in the Torygraph entitled “Get ready for Boris 2.0, the man who will make the tories and Britain great again” just moments before Bojo announced he wasn’t standing. The article is now not available and he’s backing Rishi.

Bunch of self-interested twats.
