She is very difficult to understand and certainly not qualified to be a News Reader whoever gave her the job should be fired.

Jeeze Sid, how do you manage in an Indian Restaurant? Do you just point at the menu and your mouth???  😉

You'd better not go to the Turkish Restaurant, you may end up ordering Uncle Ronnies daughter!!!

Since most of the “news” isn’t worth listening to, does it really matter who reads it?

Agreed, but it obviously matters to some. Personally don't have a problem understanding her, though at first her delivery took a little while to get used to. Quite like it.

Some people wouldn't be able to understand the news if Phil Gawne was reading it 😁

This is now a multi-cultural Island.

But then, so is the adjacent island, so it's not much good getting the boat in the morning.

I’m Manx and I have no idea what Phil Gawne is talking about half the time

No , people from Peterhead have a totally different accent to people from Aberdeen. As do people from the Broch. And many other parts of Aberdeenshire. Your wrong.

OK, I'll accept that, You are absolutely right, of course. It was just an excuse to post the clip.

Many people south of the border hear just one Scottish accent. although they detect a difference from Birmingham to Liverpool but not from Aberdeen to Glasgow.

I worked in Aberdeen in a sort of call centre,  and after a few months and many 1000s of phone calls (the first week was tough I tell ya) I could detect a difference between south of the river Dee, (a fishing community) and north of the river (which was more mills). A few months later I could tell almost to the very street as people tended to stay in the same area they grew up in.

Regional accents are fine and make life in general more inclusive.   However, the main object of a News Reader is to read clearly the events that have happened or are going to happen in the last \ next 24 hours or so and it is very frustrating when you cannot make out what they are saying.   I do not know why they have so many employees at MR especially as they are always in the red financially, why cannot the presenters of the programmes read the news out.    I have never got a straight answer as to how many employees MR has actually got but I think a cull would be a good idea and it may help to balance the books.   Manx Radio started out with a handful of people and it has just got bigger but not a lot better.   Most young people regard MR as a joke, well it is an expensive one for the tax payers.   If you dispute this ask your children or grandchildren if they listen to MR.

Since Stu has gone from Mannin Line and late night show I only listen to the news headlines. An older listener OAP.
