Manx Radio

I think the Mannin Line is pretty good most days but it doesn't really work when they have a guest in. All the time gets taken up in the studio, then it's three or four callers and done. What's the point of that ? It's not really a phone-in with a mere handful of calls. Make it two hours like it used to be (?) rather than giggly Christy D with the same old playlist and her girly banter. I'm sure she's a lovely person but I can't stand listening to that shite.

I can’t stand listening to Wint.

Fair play to Brindley he had Alf on the ropes the other week he’s a much better fit for the mannin line, than the Wint chap, who after shining Alfy shoes, making him coffee holding back his chair valet parking his car and telling him how fab he is, would have spent the rest of the programme filtering out any uncomfortable questions to give him a easy time.

I agree. Alex Brindley is far better than Wint. He's much more challenging to the studio guests (when they have one) and much less tolerant of the daily clowns (Julian*, Bonzo) trotting out the same old tripe, day after day.

Conversely, his afternoon show is totally cringeworthy, and very poor radio. He just tries too hard to be funny, and it all falls very flat.

As 'Director of Programming' he needs to give up the music presenting and go over to the grown-up side, by taking on ML permanently, or at least regularly.

Wint is well past his sell-by date, and would be better used on specialist music shows on bank holidays etc.

* Does anyone know who "Julian" is? He seems to spend his life watching conspiracy theorists on YT, and then telling Wint about them, usually at great length and in enormous detail.

I always had a vision of the Bonzo chap after hearing his voice on radio so many times, of  being an old Etonian cigar smoking type kind of chap wearing a large cravat under his tweed suit  something out of a Harry Endfield sketch until someone pointed him out to me one day.

So what/who does he look like ?
