Uncanny that this should have happened after Liz met Liz.

At least there is the photographic evidence that she was still able to stand and smile on that occasion.

Another country would have been withholding information for at least a couple of weeks already.

I do, sincerely, hope that all turns out well, for her and all of the family.

It’s always been a joke that when she does we will get some days off but I assume that is antiquated and wouldn’t happen now.

I suspect her funeral would be a national holiday at least.

I am probably one of the few on here who recall the end of King George VI reign.

I first saw the Queen around 1955 when she visited my town.  I have seen her quite a few times since including within the palace.  She did not expect to be monarch as a child as her father was not the heir at the time.

Personally, I think she has served her duties well and her passing is due some respect whatever your views.

its as if the vultures in the media are sitting along the railings of Buckingham Palace  expecting the notice to go up on the gates at any time , in very poor taste I think , when there is a story to tell or an unfortunate event , the media will  be told about it  en mass ,  all this speculation is disgraceful , its amazing how low the media  has sunk !

I must say this isn't what I expected at all. My assumption was that there would be radio silence until after she had passed, followed by a well-rehearsed and co-ordinated set of programming.

This 24/7 news cycle watching and waiting feel pretty grim.

Maybe preferable to her Grandfather being euthanised in time for the morning papers to be pressed though.

i was going to say that but i'd be accused of being crass again by the usual moaners

Certainly not hoping, just I suspect. It will probably be set out already in 'Operation London Bridge'.

Hopefully Harry and Megan won't do anything too stupid.

It's the protocol and the way these things are handled. The media are doing their job and very respectfully too. The Queen is probably near the end and they're giving the family some private time with her.

Some idiots on here need to STFU too.

They aren’t. BBC keep showing a photo of the family in the car and discussing on national TV how it’s. “Somber family moment”

Why is it even on TV at this stage?  I can’t see anything respectful about it at all.

Poor woman and the poor family.
