Wasn't me who selected it, I just screenshotted someone else's post and presumed that they knew better than me about which schools were analogous to the Island's.

If we assume that our results are analogous to comprehensive plus modern then that still puts us about right? 63.3%-76.9% for us vs 67.5% to 73.3% for them.

Ah well.  At least two local news outlets say we were worse and in fact the minister hasn’t denied it.  Yet you came on all confident and did it was pointless discussing with people who knew less than you 😂

What about selective?

But I was right, they're not worse?

We don't have any selective schools.

No I know we don’t have any selective schools.  That means the kids who would be at a selective school in the UK go to RGS, QE2 etc over here and so our results should be better.

Bit of a simplification. Rather assumes that there's absolutely no positive effect for children to be surrounded by other very able children, and no negative effect from children being surrounded by less able children.

But are RGS and QE2 not as good as selective schools in the UK for those with ability? I think they are. Obviously their overall results won't be as good but for pupils who have potential, I think they reach a similar level of attainment.

Well your figures are excluding what are presumably the most gifted kids, so I think it’s safe to say we could bump the score up a little bit

Classes do have to go at the pace of the least able pupils though. If you have a school solely with very able pupils you can obviously get further ahead and dedicate more time to more difficult topics.

Yes I understand that but all schools stream pupils these days don't they so that should not be an issue.

Some subjects are still mixed sets I believe. But even so, top stream in a regular school is going to be less able than a selective school is.

Not sure I agree with you but it's a bit subjective. My experience is that that does not have to be the case but hey, we all have different experiences. I went to a selective school but there were still disruptive kids (me included).

There's disruptive and disruptive though. A kid shat in a bin, in a classroom, at my school. (It wasn't me).
