If that is true it should be rejected out of hand and union people need to wobble their heads.

Isn’t it funny though how the civil service can instantly award themselves 6% back dated to April and that goes through without any push back at all. No threats of strike or anything required as our legion of idle paper pushers will always look after themselves. I’m half in the teachers camp after seeing that today.

If that is what the man said then fair enough, but in July his colleague the Health Minister suggested 76% of nursing posts were filled.

A quarter of posts are empty at the hospital

He says they were about to fill their quota of nurses.

Fair credit to the bloke, filling the best part of 140 posts in a few months, that works out at about 1 new nurse recruited per day, impressive.

“There are 576.54 registered nurse posts, of which 439.33, or approximately 76%, are filled.”  https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/health/a-quarter-of-posts-are-empty-at-the-hospital-556265

What evidence do you have to suggest they didn't consult their members?

However, we understand that the government was not informed its offer had been rejected before the union made its announcement.

The union told Gef that as it has a live ballot for strike action, it wasn’t required to ask members to support a walk out.

Did you miss this part?

"The strikes have been called after NASUWT members overwhelmingly (74% of respondents) rejected the government’s latest revised pay offer."

You don't need a ballot on an offer if you have a live ballot, dingus. They did poll their members about the pay offer and 74% of the members rejected it.
