People who park in disabled spaces without a badge should get massive fines & towed away , no matter how long parked there. The spaces are there for a reason & not to be used by lazy twats!!

The problem is that many aren’t legally marked out properly so the ones on the quay especially are hard to work out as they’re only disabled between particular times. It’s the same in Castletown in the square where the two disabled spaces are often blocked as the signage makes it very difficult to work out that they are disabled spaces. Sometimes it’s isn’t people being lazy it’s people who at first glance can’t easily see that they’re disabled spaces. In the UK there is very clear signage that has to apply to designate a disabled space but again here the DOI just make it up as they go along.

Yes John, I thought it was Market St from either end but closed from Thomas St would stop a lot off congestion.

Market St doesn’t start until the M&S car park entrance at the junction with Wellington Street. The short run from Victoria St to that point is Thomas St.

The signage is clear. They’re disabled/accessible parking spaces with a length of stay restriction between certain hours. Outside those hours they are still disabled/accessible spaces, but with no length of stay restriction.

You must not park in a marked blue badge space unless you are entitled to do so.

There are no part time blue badge/disabled/accessible parking spaces.

Id better qualify this. I’m talking about properly marked spaces with the wheelchair painted on the road surface. You are correct there are some general spaces ( no surface painted wheelchair ) which don’t have that, but have a designation of reserved for disabled parking between certain hours. Perhaps they cause people to be confused? They shouldn’t.

as an aside, rather then bomb the bridge to Crimea and then take all the retribution, Ukraine would have been better served sneaking the DOI in. The bridge would have been snarled up for years, the spirit of the locals broken, and the DOI would continue to multiply, random traffic lights appearing throughout Russia, shit, unusable bike lanes to nowhere, flooded roads, rapidly deteriorating surfaces, the works.

Oh come on you Taxi Drivers, you are letting your side down.

No fights, no shouting or random abuse thrown this week? - Weak, very weak............

FTAF is wrong with you taxi drivers?, you lot talk the talk but it looks like you are a bunch of softies with very small..........cars?

Those delivery drivers are much Harder Than You.

They lift heavy weights all day, not like you pussies who only open a door if the passenger is lucky, just remember that next  time you fancy a "dance"

  • 2 weeks later...

The NPM this morning reporting how the Treasury refused £2.9 million for signage, lineage painting and other works outside schools and other built up areas making them 20 mph zones. I really don’t know why the Victoria Street roadworks were funded, it certainly wasn’t a necessity, these roadworks have created havoc and won’t necessarily improve or regenerate the area. I’m sure Watling Street will be a winner.

I see taxi driver Martin Moore has just been convicted, again, of having 6 cars, parked on the roads near where he lives, without road tax/VED.

The report is actually much funnier than that

https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/courts/taxi-driver-had-no-tax-for-six-vehicles-571295

He is clearly a serial car womble who has an issue with paying road tax.

He could be without vehicles ( as they could be confiscated) and face a heavy financial penalty. No sympathy.

I’ve no sympathy either but he’s clearly some sort of demented car womble who is a nuisance and needs to be dealt with. The tax on a CLK55 is going to be £600 a year so we’re not talking about small sums either for 6 vehicles. He’s clearly got bored of dumping them outside his house and is now part of that really long remote car dump on Saddle Road.
