Yep because they rely on passivhaus type air tightness to work. No point in heating a sieve. That’s why I could never get my head around the EPC thing DFE cocked up (and hope people have forgotten about). At least DEFA had the right idea (but again cocked up). There’s a theme so I wonder what will happen with this (I predict a cock up).

What was the epc again? Was this the one Alfs new squeeze hurriedly announced?

I don't understand this. There is already an Energy Policy Team within DEFA supposedly working to develop offshore wind.

The Green Living Grant is administered by Department for Enterprise . Then we've got Net Zero and the Climate Change Transition in another place.

Now the DOI is looking to appoint a hydro-carbon and  offshore wind adviser. (as if they haven't got enough to do already)

Guess who the DOI Minister is? CM Cannan, after he got rid of Chris Thomas. Still it’s only taxpayers money.

I thought the island is awash with experts/advisers/offshore/onshore wind advisors, not to mention solar. You only have to read IOMNP Facebook to see all these expert’s postings.

Apparently there is a cross-governmental Territorial Seas Committee which is vested in the DOI Ports Division. So what does the Energy Policy Team at DEFA do?

Who knows?

This is CM Cannans problem. He is the cause, but he isn’t the solution either.

110% there's already someone lined up for this.

Like everything else in government if they don't like the advice there given , then go off and recruit somebody else  no matter what the cost  so they can just get their own way  ,

Why not just someone like a MHK call the company installing offshore windfarms in the Irish sea and ask how much it would cost to put in an extra 10 for the IOM?

Yet still encourage cruise ships to come here which are one of least green modes of transport,

Most of the newer ships are very green, running on LNG with 0 GHG emissions, recycling waste water etc. Older ships are similar to older cars higher in emissions

BULLSHIT

I CALL BULLSHIT

CAPS INTENDED

Most of the cruise ships in the world are not built that way and after Covid they will not be replaced for tens of years at  £billion + a ship

There are not even enough Fat Americans to make that a business case.

Yes I thought ORSTED (formerly DONG ENERGY) already had an option to build an offshore wind farm back in 2014 but it's not in IOM waters.

Well here’s a report on two https://www.offshore-energy.biz/ship-set-to-sail-on-worlds-first-zero-emissions-cruise-voyage-delivered/#:~:text=MSC Euribia is the final, systems and waste management handling

https://www.offshore-energy.biz/mscs-2nd-eco-friendly-explora-cruise-ship-hits-construction-milestone/

More being built &  delivered , perhaps you can do simple research before you make stupid statements, you’re Essex version of offshore Manx 😂
