Has the IOM climate emergency been cancelled yet or do we stay in a state of emergency ad finitum? 1000's of bikes, a steam railway and the Red Arrows don't appear to tie in with definition of the state of emergency

It's only an emergency when it comes to charging us for it!

Don't forget the record number of cruise ships.

Much back slapping and dick waving by CM Cannan, and trumpeted by the NPM, newspaper and media, that the Isle of Man has been tagged on legally to the Paris Climate Change Treaty, which the UK, USA, EU and other world powers agreed to cut greenhouse emissions by 2030. The IOM wanted to be included, it’s got its wish. When it breaches I hope it takes the consequences.

I would forecast most countries will not meet commitments

Wait until you get the carbon tax trade wars... where countries who've set less ambitious targets than say Germany who raise an import tarrif against developing nations to offset the impact of importing a 'dirtier' products and materials on CO2 levels .

Meanwhile developing nations take the view that developed nations are pulling up the drawbridge after they got away with decades of unregulated CO2 production to fuel their growth and are now penalizing other nations trying to catch up to the same standard of living.

Germany are still going to produce petrol driven cars past the given date, given the two fingered salute and everyone has excepted this.     These dates are a moveable feast at best and virtue signalling at worst.   Meanwhile the people who care are still trying to work out how to put bottles in a recycling bin quietly.

more made up sums (apart from the 210 new build, that's about right) until you consider Alf's plan, which needs more than double that number to succeed.

Look at the list of fires, boilers etc that are classed as not fossil fuel burners/boilers. Makes the whole exercise look laughable unless I've read it wrong.

When China and India sign the Paris Climate Change Treaty that will be a moment to rejoice before then we are pissing in the wind.

As of February 2023, 194 states and the EU, representing over 98% of global greenhouse gas emissions, have ratified or acceded to the Agreement, including China and the United States, the countries with the 1st and 2nd largest CO2 emissions among UNFCCC members

The fact that biomass fuel is considered at all amazes me.  Even the netzero zealots are back tracking on the burning trees is good claim.
