We haven't got enough trained people to install heat pumps and solar panels.

Any excuse will do, eh?

Solar panel training is not über-complicated. Most of the training involves commissioning.

Given the secrecy of the world’s governments I wouldn’t be surprised if the earth’s rotational axis had altered by a few degrees bringing more extreme weather events but it had been decided that ordinary people don’t need to know. Meanwhile billionaires will make more money from peddling non-solutions.

Said a crazy conspiracy theorist?

The NPM is giving the eco loons and IOMGs CCTB an opportunity to spout its policies. This morning there was a civil servant reminding people that from January 2025 all fossil fuel heating systems are banned from new builds housing also Agas are banned as are oil tanks. It will be interesting to see IOMG swing into action, with the use of the police catching anyone who purchases, or instals banned heating systems?

Be prepared for endless promotion of this policy at every opportunity, by an administration that is using it not as a means to achieve net zero, but as s means to dick wave and self congratulate themselves.

The rush to ban boilers is insane.

Its only in new houses. You can still replace an existing boiler in an old house AFAIK. You might not agree, but its not insane.

In a well insulated house its the cheapest and most effective way of getting heating and hot water. It would be insane not to.

AFAIK once installed you can change it. The legislation is only that house builders have to fit them.

Ban banning things.

If you don't ban things (or better insist on better things) then where would the world be. We would still be building crap, damp new houses. Its a shame things have to be banned but sometimes its the only way because it makes a level playing field. If all new homes have to have heat pumps then its the same for everyone and it will add next to nothing to the price. No gas mains to lay, no oil tanks in gardens etc etc.

So we need to ban banning bans

Absolutely nothing to do with channeling all our heating spend back to the government then?

I dunno. That's not my motivation for thinking its a good idea that's for sure. It just seems to make sense to me.

I am not a massive greeny, but if we can generate cheap electricity from wind and heat our houses with that generated electricity it just seems (to me) to be a good and sensible thing to do.
