Climate Change Progress Report

The eco loons were out in force yesterday at a ‘international conference’ of eco experts at the Comis Mount Murray. This has made top billing this morning on the NPM. Headed by Professor Currant Bun, who says the island could have a very positive story to tell’ on climate change. Maybe so, whilst we become poster boys and international dick wavers, our population becomes poorer, and endlessly over regulated. The great, the good and politicos will be alright though.

I can’t take anyone who looks like Rolf Harris seriously.

Did they sail here like Great?  They lose all credibility when they fly round the world to plan how to stop the rest of us flying

There were lots of big fuel guzzling cars parked there mostly arriving with 1 person in !!

Also the modular house they brought over for display whilst looking great needed a large crane for a few hours to lift off the large flatbed lorry which had no doubt travelled many miles in UK to get here, how many carbon miles?!

I don't think  the  conference was particularly well attended ,some of the topics were  of interest , but going green is an evolving process ,and some people cant understand why it can not be achieved overnight , with so many new  technologies  coming onto the marketplace , many unproven , surly its better  to wait and watch what the serious countries are doing ,and benefiting from their insight and experience , than being  the leaders in this field,  as some of the  local greenies would  appear to  want us  to be ,  there should also have been a streaming    link so anyone interested could have watched it live , if you can do it for a funeral  it should have been available for an event like this , particularly if government funding was involved

Seems Daffers doesn't like the thought of whopping windfarms where she can see them

Green credentials slipping?

Interesting isn't it, she wants to ban plastic straws, people walking near her house at the dhoon, crogga, house Martin's nesting and now wind turbines.  Quite the environmentalist.

Ok, ok , stop it. Bringing a modicum of common sense to the current green "crisis" debate is way out of line. (but well said).😁

You sure you are not mistaking apathy and denial for common sense?

Yes.

@Omobono is right - we need to wait and see what others are doing before too much money gets thrown down the wrong hole, again ! . Watch and learn, It is the Manx way.

But we are already miles behind. We have seen what others are doing. We are not learning. Its bleeding obvious. How long do you suggest we wait? And what are we waiting for?

In what way ? When you say "we" who exactly are they. ?

I sense you mean the Govt are not decided on the way forward yet but I could have misinterpreted the meaning.

The government not deciding could be the best thing I have heard about them this year, because when they do we all know they will zig when any body with a modicum of common sense knows they should of been zagging. And there will go a huge chunk of reserves into the latest snake oil salesperson, with not 0.0000000001% of help to global warming.

We are hopefully waiting for to see how bigger countries go about taking climate change on board, what mistakes they make, what progress they make and their success stories.   Whilst single use plastic water containers are still being sold in shops and even schools I cannot believe our Government is taking Climate change and restricting the use of plastic seriously.   We have a good, clean,  water supply and there is no excuse to buy water which under scrutiny has been proven to not be as pure as our tap water. Stopping selling straws is not going to have a fraction of the impact of stopping the sale of plastic water bottles.
