If only there was some kind of forward thinking policy around reducing waste the councillors could put forwards. Perhaps reducing bin collections and encouraging recycling?

BriT
Now nobody can have nice things because of volatile inflation https://www.energyfm.net/cms/news_story_755572.html I’d suggest like every other authority the real reason is inflation busting pay increases handed out to council staff to do the same minimal work is the real cause of all these service removals.

Another conspiracy theory with no basis of facts to cause issues!! All public sector staff including local authorities got 6% pay rises, inflation was c10% so hardly inflation busting. Teachers & police if course got more & doing the most whining

I'm on the committee that voted down both those things. The playground in Summerhill made no sense to start with (it was to be where the canons are - bad spot for any kind of play equipment imo) and the skatepark was a replacement for the one there now but simply too expensive for this year. Maybe a cheaper solution can be found. Pay is not set by the council and the award was 6% I believe. Your comment reads like people who deliver services don't deserve fair pay simply because they work for DBC. That's a disturbing mindset to have. Headcount is down by 19 over recent years already, and front line staff are working hard to deliver the same level of services with less money. Just slagging them off like this is unhealthy. If you want to look at possible staff cost savings, move further up the food chain. Also, you are completely ignoring massive price increases outside of our control, such as supplies and energy.

In fairness taking these down and arranging the storage, is a time consuming job and can only be undertaken at certain times of day. It's normal that some of these features would still be up. It's also true that there is a very limited number of electricians working at DC.
Omobono
No recycling collected today in west Douglas , people let down again , time we resumed normal collection service an a weekly basis for household refuse , it least we know where we stood and it was reliable , if the wind gets up it will be blown everywhere ,
