More uselessness from DBC

If you take into account the legal costs incurred by DBC, maybe the bin collections will have to be reduced to once every 3 months.

Looking at Roger Mexicos post on how long that case has been going on for the costs were probably in excess of the £12K they paid out. What a great use of ratepayers funds - fighting with a well known vexatious litigant over an order you knew from the start hadn’t been executed properly anyway.

Because they scoured these boards having no interest in debate or information sharing. Their only purpose was to stir things up, which they did with regularity, making personal attacks against anyone who challenged them. They were suspended and banned only to come back in different guises, and still do. After a while their names cease to mean anything, they just all merge into one huge toxic cloud that comes, and goes. Quite unlike the common or garden asshole who contributes but whose user name it is hard to forget.

Bit like noxious farts then?

It would seem that DBC object to the unfinished extension because it makes the area look shabby (my brain gave up trying to read that judgment posted by RogerMexico, but there must be some such statement in there). I've driven along Quarterbridge Road many times but have not noticed anything untoward anywhere - but I am looking where I am going.

On the other hand while driving on the North end of the prom. I have always noticed the derelict Summerland site. No doubt DBC/gov. (whoever owns it) will say that they cannot spend money on it because it has to be left in its virgin state so that a developer will have a free hand. In my opinion, that is crêpe. Not using it as a car park or dumping ground would be a start.

Not only that, there is the area right alongside the MER/horse tram/pub which is used as a dump site. Maybe someone should notify DBC and get them to serve a notice:1.thumb.jpg.924c83e74b87a810d25ae467bac596ce.jpg.c5bb391e12da106f1a9bf62fec60b5f6.jpg

To be fair that does not have a direct impact on the neighbours.  May be an eyesore, but not actually affecting the fabric of the neighbouring properties.

It was like that last summer. Looked an absolute state to those going past on the MER.

Councils and local authorities should have stronger powers to seize and sell dilapidated properties.

If they have very robust internal processes, appropriate oversight, independent checks and tight procedures to stop those powers being abused yes. Until they have that they should not. The key issue with the Bellamy case above seems to be the order had to be approved in Council and it wasn’t. You can’t have workers taking powers into their own hands. And you can’t give workers who won’t follow existing procedures more powers.

Or, no-one knew
