When the tide is in wouldn't that mean the raft would be in really deep water? Exactly. Can you imagine the time it’d take to get help there when the tide is in? Well, yes, I must admit, I hadn't thought of that. I thought it was quite a good idea. 🤦♀️

I just think the whole things going to be a bit of a lemon. A £30k one at that

Ie: build it, drag in, in bad weather, presumably lifeguard equipment.
hissingsid
Perhaps the gentleman who drives the tractor could be in charge of the red flag situation and double up as a lifeguard it must be boring just going up and down all day and could swimmers perhaps use the Villa toilets or the Arcade ones a shower unit could be popped in one or the other….just a quick sprint over a roundel, choice of two there, and that is sorted. I am sure there are councillors who have thought of this of course as a solution.

Guest
Meant to ask the other day and just remembered now. What has Councillor Amadeus actually ever done for his constituents? Genuine question.

I think we have to accept that actually, there's little unpaid councillors can do other than vote on things put before them?

The unpaid excuse was initially used by Wells in the aftermath of the poorly received public meeting when she clearly thought she unjustifiably got a hard time. Whether a person is specifically paid to undertake a local authority role is irrelevant. Many company directors with small businesses are unpaid or only have their expenses covered as the company might not be able to support much more of an income. They won’t be getting any get out of jail free card if they don’t discharge their legal duties properly just because they only got paid expenses. If people aren’t happy with the pay to undertake a particular role then they shouldn’t take the role as not being paid doesn’t dilute any of the legal obligations or regulatory expectations at all. 1

The two positions are not analogous at all.
