It was blowing a fecking gale ffs.

Get a life.  It’s a little bit of rubbish.

Drive to St John’s and stop in Peel for an Ice Cream and a nice walk.

Or just chill and have a beer.  It’s a bit of rubbish

The road to Peel is flooded in various places where DOI improved it so I wouldn’t drive to Peel.

better to put the recycling boxes out and let the wind do it’s thing.

Yeah. At time and a half I'll bet too. Lots of cars in there......behind the locked gate.

That’s a lot of bitterness over a perfectly understandable closure on health and safety grounds.

Not saying I agree with it, but it’s 2023 and that is how the world works, so to moan about it is just a bit stupid.

No harm done.  In an ideal world the staff would have had a break right over the festive period anyway and people would have just had to deal with the disaster that is some rubbish hanging around the house or flat for a few days.

For someone who constantly complained about the way CL posted, you're doing a damn good follow up...

Massive issues with the recycling collections today. Apparently there is too much recycling to collect that they can’t cope and shite blowing around the Grandstand. But announcement on Facebook that they won’t be picking up from certain routes today as the wagons are full. It seems to be reported everywhere but here. Funny that.

Going to need a bigger digger? I assumed the current digger was hired as part of the contract.  Do DBC own the digger?

Glad they saved 25k by messing with the bin collections, feels like they really have their priorities aligned with the needs of the people

"The report said in ‘certain’ weather conditions like high winds, seaweed had washed back onto parts of the beach and had been left to decompose, leaving a bad smell.

The council confirmed it won’t be removing vegetation but will instead install signs to ‘educate’ beach users on the different types of native flora and fauna."

Beach users will be educated to use their sense of smell to identify the flora and fauna. Fauna is the animal life, isn't it.

Handy guide issued by council to identify fauna-related odours:

Have they published the report? How much will a bigger digger cost them?  I don't think residents will put up with the smell for long regardless regardless of the condescending signs.
