Ah, authored by Messrs D Cretney and G Cregeen (in 2012).

E.g.: "Policy 4 Waste Infrastructure We will ensure the Island has access to an adequate network of waste storage, processing, treatment and disposal facilities developed in accordance with the principles of self-sufficiency, proximity and cost, whilst complying with the appropriate legislation". Tick.

This has been superseded by the waste of paper Waste Strategy of 2018.

There are no recycling targets in it.

Just scroll back. IoMG do have recycling objectives. I’m too lazy to search them. The consultation questionnaire doesn’t appear to be on line still, but I completed it, Gladys says that she did.

That's very helpful.

It may also explain why you and Gladys have not taken offence unlike the 600+ protestors because you were invited to the consultation. I have asked Amadeus for the consultation. I am sure he will be able to supply it from the DBC archive.

Out of interest, to what do you ascribe the current protests, which, for the right reasons or wrong, are nevertheless a reality and presumably a surprise to the Council?

I think I received a text to take part in the survey because I get text reminders for recycling collections, not because I was part of any kind of focus group.   There may have been other ways DBC invited participation; Whiskey responded to a FB invitation.

As has been demonstrated on here, much of the communication for the new arrangements may not have been recognised as something important and binned without being read.

There was a lot of general media publicity, but people will only prick up their ears if they think it will affect them.

The other issue may be that tenants in multiple occupancy may not receive directly the rate demands which had the leaflet and, possibly, the landlords or managing agents did not relay the information to them.

I cannot speak for John, but these are my views.

I wasn’t invited. But I saw it and chose to respond.

The protests - I put it down to a general dislike of change, people will get used to it, things will calm down. That’s why I suggest to give it 6 months.

The problem seems to indicate what I’ve observed for decades. People sleepwalking through life, not paying attention, not being interested in things that affect them, because it’s irrelevant, boring, politics, not my thing. Until it is relevant and does affect.

Its a bit like the increased pension age and equalisation. All the people saying they didn’t know. I knew. The message was repeated. News paper headlines, long discussions on BBC R4.

But Im odd. I listen to R4 every morning, 6-8am, read a broadsheet daily, read all 3 Manx papers, plus social media news feeds.

There really was not. But never-mind there seems to be a determined effort on here to tow the party line of one of the admins.

There really was. See my post immediately above yours. There’s no Frank/Amadeus party line.

The moderators and admins don’t socialise, chat about each others jobs or politics. I have met Amadeus, twice in 15 years. I’ve never met one of the moderators. This place doesn’t work like your paranoia would have you believe.

We post as individuals. I’ve not spoken to, messaged, e-mailed or discussed bin emptying or the Corpie fortnightly collections with Amadeus.

The only party line is when we agree on a moderation issue. Bin emptying isn’t a moderating issue.

No moderators Christmas party? I am disappointed!

These are valid points. But people are humans. People have busy lives. It seems DBC put a leaflet in with the rate demands. I confess I didn't see it (nor even recycle it). But with all the bumff we get sent these days these things happen. I wasn't expecting it to have important information in it. But in strict definition they did tell me, by mail, that it was going to happen or there was a consultation. Not sure which as it was a long time ago. But yes, my fault

If you remember though my points was about when. That was not stated.

So I knew it was coming. I didn't know when

AND,IT WOULD SEEM, NEITHER DID ANYONE F*****ER ELSE OTHERWISE THERE WOULDNT HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF EFFIN BINS PUT OUT THAT WEEK
