So would I be, faced with that sea of downturns mouths. Yes she did until she was told. Also the two of them were quite rude talking whilst someone was asking questions and the smirks were noted too, to the other councillor sat In the front. They didn’t want to listen. It was astonishing to hear the guy, as he didn’t seem to have a clue what’s happening in Douglas and kept referring it to the UK. what a waste of time. TheTeapot
DBC make a decision which is met with disdain by much of the population it serves. A meeting is called, turnout is predictably not massive, but overwhelmingly opposed to DBC nonsense. DBC says 'so what'. Democracy in action, live and in your face. Rates to rise 15%. Yes you only have to listen to Ms Wells staggeringly arrogant stance in this audio clip on MR. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/douglas-council-will-not-revert-back-to-once-a-week-collections/ This is a woman, let’s remember, that nobody in Douglas voted for. Not one person in the audience placed a vote for this woman whose seat was uncontested,

Other than on here and that Facebook page that only has a handful of active posters, I haven’t heard anyone complaining. None of my family in Douglas or colleagues or friends have even mentioned it.

Douglas is just some grotty Banana Republic of unelected eco-loons who have no intention of listening to the people who fund town hall. Ms Wells should resign after that performance. Well she should if she had any personal integrity (which clearly she does not) as she put on an awful performance. She was called for being arrogant from the first public question and that theme then recurred through every response given by her and her sidekick over more than an hour. Reportage
The Gef report https://gef.im/2022/12/13/council-rejects-residents-calls/ After her over 20 minute statement was finished, residents had their chance to ask questions and it quickly got personal as one resident accused the leader and the council of being arrogant in setting out the policy and refusing to change it. Amongst other complaints was a lack of public consultation, a lack of democratic mandate and a lack of consideration being given to those living in flats and many homes in central Douglas that don’t have gardens or other outside areas to keep extra bins or recycling boxes. Mrs Wells said no consultation was held as one wasn’t required and Mr Horning said he personally did campaign on the change in the most recent council elections. Non-Believer
The solution to all this is perfectly obvious. Return collections to a weekly basis. Give everybody a smaller bin 😂

What a useless article. Everyone knew how it was going to go as it was organised by and attended by a vocal minority who are opposed to the change. Unfortunately for them the silent majority aren’t arsed and just went about their evening as normal. Time for those who don’t like it to accept the (small) change and figure out the best way to make it work for them 6
