So there it is folks, the new Chief Constable for the Island has been named.

https://www.gov.im/news/2022/oct/20/new-chief-constable-to-join-force-in-2023/

“Mr Foster is a trained, accredited and experienced Counter Terrorism Commander, Specialist Strategic Firearms Commander, Strategic Public Order Commander and Sporting Events Commander”

Exactly what we needed then.

Actually what I find quiote incredible is this of Gary Roberts:

Mr Roberts has held the Chief Constable role since 2013 and is the longest serving person to hold that position in the British Isles.

So no currently serving British Chief Constable has been in position for longer than 9 years (as of now)??

Which begs the question how old is the new incumbent and will he last nine years? Or is it the prospect of putting his feet up for the next 5 years until he draws his pension?

"Mr Foster is an advocate for capital punishment for possession of more that £5 of weed"

Now we know the real reason he got the job.

When you consider the differential in street prices between the likes of Bradford and Douglas, some local smackhead’s fart is probably has a street value of more than £5.

our current fella is how it should be , CC's should be in post for a long time so you don't end up with the usual promote with a few years before you get your pension at that ranks value.  having 2 or 3 retired CC's claiming a pension is better for the pot than 7 or 8 doing the same , those that didn't make the cut just have to settle for an assistant CC or inspectors pension.
