Which begs the question how old is the new incumbent and will he last nine years? Or is it the prospect of putting his feet up for the next 5 years until he draws his pension? Most are on 5 year fixed terms

Maybe not such a good choice then!! Needed someone of Weedon’s caliber and experience of a rural community.

Think the idea was to not get lumbered with someone you couldn’t get rid of until they decided to retire. You can always extend.
Omobono
He will have a lot of work to do , the drug culture here is sadly out of control , while petty crime is fairly low , the Island is not the place it was, and I believe the police relationship with the local community has deteriorated in recent years , you never see a copper now , some driving standards are dreadful and many motorists drive far too fast and beyond their capabilities , there will also be many anti social and domestic issues to be addressed ,that take up so much police time and resources , and never seem to be properly resolved especially as the courts appear to be going soft on just about everything these days ! best of Luck to him he will need it !
NoTailT
I mean, it seems on the face of it a pretty solid appointment. We should be happy given the mess of the last time they ran the recruitment process.

Maybe we should buy all the seized UK drugs and the government here can legalise and sell them. Big money earner and takes a headache away from UK forces for disposal.

Why not a civil commissioner with operational ranks of a lower status?
