Poor MI and financial data No KPI's No idea how to market the product Poor relationships with suppliers and customers Escalating subvention Grossly inefficient Poor staff morale No training and development Over-staffed by around 40% Staff attendance running at around 75% Managers getting their bonuses anyway Could probably be a proxy for any other IOMG Quango, or semi-commercial operation. It’s time that all this stuff was canned. Same as the food security nonsense being talked about the flour mill. If the farmers have no confidence and are still sending their stock away for slaughter then it has no viable future. And paying people bonuses for running a failed business is just madness.

Omobono
I wonder what the outcome would be if an independent audit, and economic value study was carried out into some of the other government departments and statutory boards , its about time this government got itself sorted out , its already a laughing stock and continuing to burn up vital cash reserves without a care as to how the next generation going having to pay off the debts and maladministration created by the egotistical sins of the fathers ,

0bserver
The shelves were almost bare of Manx meat in Tesco tonight. Not sure if this is them removing it from sale following the report or if they are just waiting for an expensive restock?

Actually about the only thing the report was happy about was the safety of the product (other H&S issues less so).
mollag
Would this be a good time to give the farmers more money from the public purse, as a reward for being farmers?

John Wright
There’s a worrying theme across a number of government bodies and agencies that are struggling. Airport, overheads. Insufficient data to identify costs and trends. Manx Care, waiting lists and referral times. Insufficient data to identify where problems are arising. Abattoir, processing costs, throughput, marketing etc. Insufficient data to identify costs, and price/profitability of export marketing ( amongst other data deficit ) 4

Was in the Duke Street Coop yesterday afternoon, never seen the shelves devoid of any fresh and chilled goods. I understand that there has been no deliveries due to the sailing cancellation, but this was desperate.

It’s about managing the business and analyzing service delivery and trends to stay ahead. You can pretty much guess that management in the public sector has largely remained sitting behind a big desk telling people what to do.

When the meat plant was last discussed on here, I could not understand how meat from the very fields you can see from Tesco was so much dearer than meat carried many miles over land and sea to get on the same shelves. Now I understand.

Quite astonishing to see the themes repeated in every report. Surely the minister has to take responsibility for this mess? It's not a new problem and on a small island people generally hear what's going on.
Non-Believer
Wasn't it only a year ago that the Meat Plant was outed as having been hijacked by a cabal of civil servants and self-interested individuals as their personal benefit project?
