none of this spending should be scrapped.

it's the income thats the real problem.

Surely if income is a problem then spending needs to be adjusted accordingly until such time as the problem is resolved?

Great idea only running to Laxey.

The bus service into town is brilliant, with a nice generic terminal made of imported granite at Laxey.

I for one would use a tram from Ramsey to Laxey and bus the rest of the way if I needed to go into Douglas.

Same with a train to Castletown only.  The journey from Port Erin to Castletown is lovely.  The bus ride to Douglas is quicker with just empty industrial estates, building sites and cuttings on the train.

(Posting to ask the question - why the fuck is everything so Douglas centred? - Douglas is shit.  A dump, coming a close second place to Peel for buildings in need of a rebuild, a lick of paint and some decent customer service.  The chance to go somewhere else instead of these two festering, unwelcoming dives must be grabbed by the balls and exploited).

Because its the biggest place, by a long way. More people work there than anywhere else, again by a long way. That's seems to be the way it works all over the world.

Maybe we should make Bride our transport hub

Don't let Marlene Maska hear you talking like that otherwise you'll be off to the Manx National Heritage Re-education Centre

HaHa. Yes we must be the only place in the world where being a dump and needing a rebuild is seen as a positive feature towards preservation order

There is an irony in trying to preserve everything that is just old without some criteria of value or relevance. You devalue the good by swamping it with bad or mediocre. And you also do not allow space for something better to come along.

If a building has appeal and can be brought back into use then it serves a purpose in both form and function. If not then it's just taking up space and costing money to boot.

A good number of empty buildings in Douglas should just be flattened.
