Amadeus
There I was hoping they would propose moving their offices out of prime real estate and putting the building to better use, such as making the upstairs a restaurant again. There are precisely zero reasons why the DOI needs offices in there and couldn't be housed in some existing government building elsewhere. Sad. The Department of Infrastructure has proposed improvements to the interior of the Sea Terminal in Douglas. A planning application, submitted last week, proposes the fixing of the balustrading (stair railing) on the level above the departures and arrivals lounge, replacement of the old leaking flat-roof coverings and the installation of a new fire escape staircase from roof level to ground level on the Victoria Pier. 3

2112
This will be another waste if taxpayers money by Chris Thomas’s Deoartment. Not only that it will cause grate upheaval, disruptions and as will most refurbishment and renovations, go over budget and time. No doubt the IOMG pet contractors will be doing the work? What rubbish people spout on here sometimes. 6
NoTail
Do you actually need planning permission to fix a roof?

ptarmigan
It’ll be patchwork emergency repairs as usual there’s no planned maintenance programme across the government estate. No sense of priority.

No sense of priority. I think that is just doi that don't plan. They don't even know what they own that needs maintaining I was told by a gov, non DOI employee

More the stupidity of the news making a point about it 'improvements' and the grandstanding of this thread.

Which tells you everything about the DOI. 1

Transport hub...buses again, ticket shop and welcome centre, and some good eateries. Won't change how the DoI operates, they can screw us up just as well based in Ramsey, Peel or anywhere out of town.
