If they threatened to turn the gas off in Gaza I am sure Joney would pipe up. 2

2112
Maybe our newly crowned Parliamentarian of the Year will do something on behalf of Island Energy customers?

But the question is how much do these people owe? If it’s £000s should they continue getting what is in effect free gas? I know of several families who don’t have the money to pay the bills & make do, . If you didn’t pay your bills would you expect a private company to continue supplying you? Yes you raise valid points and we are only told one side - and case studies of those who are genuinely in financial distress. Maybe Island Energy could IF after customer engagement, repayment plans etc, fail to work - install prepayment meters, whereby a percentage of the debt is allocated each top up. All Island Energy have done is created such negative headlines and bad feeling - maybe that’s their intentions?
Fred the shred
Customer service appears to be zilch, counter closed and according to social media almost impossible and expensive to contact by phone. Some of these customers claim incorrect bills others claim no bills in spite of them sending actual readings to Manx Gas every month. £200 connection charge does not help anyone struggling. How can this Company accuse people of not paying bills they have not received? This Company is not fit for purpose the Government cannot walk away from this. MUA makes similar customers go on prepaid meters, perhaps MG should consider similar? Remember the coin in meters?

IOMG will only get involved when there is horrendous bad publicity, involving disconnections, the bad publicity affecting both the company and politicos will reach a crescendo where it can’t be ignored. Fred the shred
I don’t think the publicity they are getting could be any worse, it has been consistently bad now for ages and nothing seems to have improved. Jo Cox is obviously unfit for purpose the point she makes about people wanting gas without paying is breathtaking is this not what her Company were doing with the MUA when they owed long thousands on unpaid invoices, What a cheek.
2112
It seems both John Wannanburgh MHK is somewhat naive if he thinks he can get anywhere with Island Energy. You would have thought that the OFT would be aware of the ‘disconnection’ procedure, unless that is, it’s fluid, and Island Energy aren’t consistent in its application? For the amount of disconnections involved, you would have thought the OFT and MHKs to really show themselves as being in control. I think Island Energy are in control and politicos are merely reacting to events blindly.
Major Rushen
Ridiculous…..just back from 2 weeks in the Caribbean and find the gas has been cut off. 2112
Wannaburgh that great man of the people has been on the NPM (MR) saying he is disappointed with Island Energy who will not pause their disconnection program. ‘Disappointed’ not as much as the both the voters of Douglas North and others who believed his bullshit at the General Election. If he was as strong as he makes out, he would have picked a campaign with Island Energy, and maybe drew as much attention to this as much as other MHKs have with their pet hobby subjects, some even get the chance of getting it legislated into law. Personally I think John Wannanburgh is a great talker but little doing. Eventually he will end up in Legco, achieved nothing but has a nice cushy job without having to exert himself, with great benefits.
