IOM Energy AKA Manx Gas

It's surprisingly difficult to find a list of post offices, but they have this interactive map on the IOM Post website:

https://www.iompost.com/tools-forms/post-office-services-finder/

and click on the right button and it gives a list of places you can pay gas etc bills, not all of which are formally Post Offices.   Including the Clagh Vane Spar apparently.

Yes, but the European prices you see quoted are the wholesale price. Retail price is still high across Europe. Just had 5 big gas bottles delivered here in Catalonia. Cost three times as much as this time last year, and it’s 25% less than it was in September. In other words it went up 400% in 9 months.

Surely the retail price has a direct relationship to the wholesale price?

It’s quite complex. There’s futures and hedged prices for future delivery and spot prices for immediate delivery.

so what the gas retailer actually pays for what it sells on depends on what proportions of spot or hedging it has bought and is comprised in its delivery to the consumer.

It also depends on whether they got the hedging right. Great if you hedged and prices go up. Not so good if they go down.

At the moment demand is low, spot prices are low. But that’s no consolation if you bought ahead 4 months ago for what you thought was going to be a good price.

Ah, I understand that completely, thanks. Didn't know that was what your reference to wholesale versus retail meant.

Re gas bill etc. Had a letter last friday with a estimated bill to date , which of course was well over what it should have been. Emailed them back Monday morning and reply today with updated bill. Maybe , just maybe they are getting their act together . Need to check figures though !.

Its mind blowing though that a organisation with the turnover they have got it so wrong for so long . And Jo Cox , after her high profile role on social media has seemingly disappeared .

According to John Wannenburgh MHK Head of the OFT, OFT will take enforcement action against Island Energy …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. if needed.

The OFT and CURA has met with Island Energy and in the meantime Island Energy is saying everything is alright, nothing to worry about and people’s complaints have been dealt with.

Sadly yet another whitewashing and handwringing exercise, I did expect better from John Wannenburgh, unfortunately he has completely fallen under the spell of the establishment, the civil service and others. Island Energy will just walk over everyone, and our politicos will happily let them.
