The Phantom
3 minutes ago, WTF said: will it be up and running again for TT?? or have they worked out the wardens cost more than the income? Well the income this year appears it's going to be zero. I think I heard them say on the radio it would be closed till September. Who realistically camps after September though? Seems it will take them 6 months to demolish and build a new toilet block. Maybe something they should have done during the winter?
doc.fixit
How much will it cost to supervise no one is there over night? 2

Yibble
Government proves incapable of managing a field with a toilet block. What's the betting they will now incur similar or greater costs (without the revenue) in attempting to prevent it being used as a camp site? 6
Roger Mexico
Here's the actual press release with a bit more detail. Apparently they've decided to demolish the "condemned toilet block" without deciding what they want to put in its place or what the future use of the site will be. But don't worry, there will be 'consultations'. Does anyone know how bad the toilet block actually was by the way?

Well you can’t have someone paying a premium price for a camping pitch and having a condemned poo.

I’m sure Minister Thomas will add his pearls of wisdom. What consultation do you need? Survey? It’s a campsite and motor home/caravan site, it either needs the toilet block pulling down and rebuilding, or fixing the faults instead of demolishing. It seems IOMG like a song and dance production number.

They fenced off a big chunk of the land last summer and didn't allow camping on it as it was contaminated. I reckon the septic tank has burst and knackered the foundations. 1
NoTail
I could rebuild the toilet block - no problem. Cost about £3.7m would be finished around August 2026.

Two-lane
Do people with motor homes require a toilet block? Are motor homes included in the ban?
