monasqueen
https://www.gov.im/categories/benefits-and-financial-support/social-security-benefits/tv-licence/ The concession under which pensioners aged 75 or over who are resident in the Island get a free TV licence each year from the BBC (irrespective of their means) has been extended to 31 December 2023. war baby
When you are over 75 and disabled, TV can be your only window into the world. I paid the full fee for a lifetime and if necessary I will have to pay again, but in the meantime I am grateful for this small freebie that actually works for me. I still pay a fair old slice of my meagre income in taxes and the many other unwelcome costs of staying alive. Don't begrudge an old war baby this small comfort. (Much weeping in the back stalls). 1

Where would the limit be set in how much income has to be earned before free license? We are going to have to face this issue as well next year. The Voice of Reason
1 hour ago, Passing Time said: They should scrap the TV Licence completely Why? I think it’s incredibly good value. I watch the Attenborough nature stuff, the BBC dramas, the BBC news. Match of the day etc OK stuff like Antique Roadshow and EastEnders aren’t my cup of tea. But it’s what £150 a year or something? . I really don’t understand those that try to find some sort of loophole. Like I’m watching it on I player so I shouldn’t have to pay. I don’t know whether that’s a valid let out legally but it’s certainly the last refuge of scoundrels. When Sky memberships are what £80 a month (?)for the crap they put out isn’t there a case for actually increasing the BBC licence fee?
