A fool and his money.....
Why name him in the press if there isn't even any evidence? Especially somewhere like here, poor bugger will have that with him for the rest of his life, despite being completely innocent of any crime. 5

hissingsid
No it was a woman with a personal grudge against Manx Heritage who chose to take her spite out on an innocent member of their staff by making a false allegation regarding his behaviour at the Manx Museum. He got named and shamed by the gutter press and she got anonymity because naming her would have identified her child. I truly believe in Karma and hope one day the journalist who put his name to the article and the women get their due desserts. I have never bought a Manx newspaper since. 2
Omobono
I just hope he has a case against his accusers , too much of this kind of thing happening , and in a small community like this your reputation is ruined ,
Stu Peters
Don't blame the media for doing their jobs - blame the prosecution and the legal system for releasing the information. 4

code99
Our (western) societies, with their patriarchal biases, have ‘owned’ the traditional justice system for a very long time. That flawed system was a disgrace as it frequently failed women and children who had been raped, suffered abuse and harassment, etc. Their complaints were often ignored and/or went non-investigated. The legal pendulum has now swung to the point where women’s grievances are taken on face value, but every now and then there will inevitably be cases, like this one, where despicable, sad and disturbingly vindictive behaviours are not adequately evaluated by the relevant authorities. The media should not be allowed to publish the information until the Court decides, IMHO. This case delivers a harsh lesson to the IOM Police/ Prosecutors, who clearly did not put all of their ducks in a row before bringing a case. The statement “Prosecutors offered no evidence and the charge was dismissed” is astounding. How on earth did the AGO allow this case to proceed without having any concrete evidence…another chapter in the same pathetic legal sh*tshow that continues on the Island. If what is reported is actually what occurred, then for all intents and purposes the lying accuser should be prosecuted and the acquitted defendant should be awarded a substantial (seven figure) compensation sum for their personal trauma and reputational damage.

The media, the individuals involved in the prosecution and legal system are permitted to act under the cloak of anonymity and as a result demonstrate their complete lack of integrity and common decency. Reminds me of a friend of mine in London who witnessed a violent burglary at a MC Donalds (he was stabbed during the incident ) , the local press presumably after been given the SP's for a pint or two by the local plod ran the story giving details of his name, address , place of work etc.and said that he had been helpful in identifying at least 3 of those involved ! The effect on him was devastating and he ended up dying in misery prematurely . Stu, perhaps if all the 'scroats' who released the information to the press and the editor of the rag were be identified (complete with their addresses and telephone numbers) they may perhaps realise what shits they are .Just saying s Edited January 16, 2023 by paswt 2
