Cannot see the spots for the bins, motorhome and white van parking anywhere.

I take it all the grassed areas have artists impressions of mud patches, rounded off corners, Costa cups and dog shit.

I've heard they'll have little rooms you can rent for 15 minute blocks too.

They’re trying to do some sort of deal with DBC for 55 units for social housing which would get round this. But as DBC hasn’t got £10M to buy them with and there would be outrage if they did I can’t see that flying either. Most of it seems to be pure bullshit.

They waste lots of money refurbishing places like Willaston rather than building new for 21st century.

The reason this was done all over the island was due to car parking.

If you flatten a council estate and re build with decent modern homes you loose lots of houses to give the parking requirements of planning

They would not bend the rules all over the island for the various councils but seem to be doing it when its their plan?

Car parking has again been a big issued tonight apparently. Most of the residents of the surrounding areas don’t seem happy.

The meeting chaired by Councillor Pitts. MHKs Chris Thomas and Ann Corlett were also attending. Attending as constituency Douglas Central MHKs, or did they attend as Chair and Vice Chair of the Housing and Communities Board? I’m all for redeveloping the area which is long overdue, but residents concerns need to be addressed otherwise any goodwill within any future development schemes by the MDC, will result in scepticism, mistrust and negativity, and then objection in the planning stage.

All those guest houses in Demesne Road which have been converted into multiple flats are the cause of the parking issues. Past their designed use, flatten the lot!

It’s not just flats in the area. There are many houses particularly at the rear of Demesne Road, beside the bowling club adjacent to Westmorland Road.

Just get rid of bowling green & use that for car parking, there’s loads of greens about island

Just stop cocking round pissing folk off and build on Park Road site. Including the same level of parking everyone else has to provide

prove they can do something simple then worry about grand schemes. Note the Nurses Home has been being redeveloped for 15 months now and the site huts only went up two weeks ago. The NH won’t be habitable for another 12 months and will yield 37 apartments. That’s fairly shit really

But they’ve already now spent £3M + buying the remaining properties on that site. The whole thing is a joke. A brownfield only developer who developed the only “brownfield” site in town that involved dropping a whole school at considerable cost and then purchasing another load of adjacent buildings so it can drop them too.

Isn’t the park road site being considered for school to replace balkaquayle & it’s sister one which will presumably release those sites in due course?

but sites like old prison & even bus station site should be used for housing

It is kind of ironic, having to  create a brown field site when so many are already an eyesore. Getting rid of an awful lot of small businesses that people used to walk to as they were local and driving them out of town thus creating the need to drive to the business. Thats if they bother after receiving the overly generous price taking it and retiring, or investing in the buy to let. So the people that were employed have lost their jobs due to the development. I suppose they could all retrain as e scooter repair persons or as Thatcher dream all to the service industry's like Costa.

The school idea was dropped, so now there is no excuses not to use Park Road site for housing. I can see this site being derelict for many years to come.
