Meanwhile - the expense of ANPR cameras seems to a great idea - NOT.

There's been a drop in the use of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology locally to track vehicle tax offences so far this year.

"Budget issues"......Hmmmmmm

I would have thought, that as it says on the tin it is "automatic" , that unless the software is being paid a salary there is little or no cost involved.

If @Chris Thomaswould care to post on here the full management tree for the highways division then maybe, just maybe, people on MF could point as to where possibly some savings could be made to help with the budgetary issues?.

The Port st Mary road is an absolute disgrace and certainly merits winning the worst bit of IOM road surface award.( you could also back date that award 20 years) to sit alongside the villages dogsh%t  award. I believe it’s been delayed/put of so long because the doi lack of skill set to do a proper job, you watch when they come to do it it’ll take months. At least the bottom of the village almost be a traffic free zone as the 5 cars in 5 cars out per hour through Glen Chas’s kicks in but when the landing craft ferry from the shore hotel to the Harbour slipway kicks in that should help.

Psm high street has to be the worst road on the island and I do cover quite a lot of the road network. But when you have the DoI deny the planning for the improvement of the road from the applicant the yep you guessed it the DOI. It goes to show what an utter shit show the whole department is with aptly Thomas at the helm.

is Curphy still temporary doi ceo? As in temporary for about 4 years now!

This would be the same management tree that's been cutting the coalface and services since Phil Gawne's time back in 2014 whilst remaining largely unscathed itself.

Here's an idea though....we'll raise VED to give us funds to employ people and systems to catch some other people who can no longer afford to pay their VED....

Does anyone else think that there has to be another way forward, because this has all the signs of grubbing down the back of the sofa for loose change?

I think there is lots more of this to come across Government !

I am told that PSM high Street is simply too expensive to do !

I believe the reason for lack of repairs for the bit of road from the Santon motel to the fairy bridge is as a traffic calming measure, would not wish to turn the tight twisty bit into a race way would we. I say this in jest but knowing the DOI knobheads it will turn out to be true.

But most of the TT Course is a race track.  No expense spared.
