Omobono
Heads should roll for this , and I see the chief executive couldn't be bothered to present herself in front of the committee could only join in by Zoom or Teams not only operating a specialist and hazardous waste site illegally but without planning consent for the last 3 years , how long had this lady been acting interim chief executive , and who heads up the waste management division , these are basic requirements for the operation of these sites , perhaps Mr Thomas will be able to tell us who is responsible ,and who is falling on the sword ? 3

I heard that this row is really over disposal of a very toxic substance called Coal Tar. IOM DEFA are quite correctly asking where it is being tipped and are not getting an environmentally responsible answer. Tipping it at Wrights Pit? which may end up in the sea, in many years due to erosion is not an option Might not sound like much but it is a big issue (Google it in the UK Environmental Agency - Coal Tar)

finlo
I would think coal tar would be the least of their problems as far as toxic "stuff" leaching into the sea goes!

We never realised it was killing us. I think Pears had coal tar in it too. It's been known for years that the coal tar soothes the skin and is a good treatment for dandruff and psoriasis. Vosene used to contain it in bucket loads. All gone now. There are a couple of coal tar shampoos left that you can get but the concentration of coal tar in minute. Coal tar is nasty stuff. Full of phenols and benzene derivatives. Never did us any harm.....I think

Zero coal tar in it these days (we use the same brand), it was banned about 30 odd years ago I think.

I dont believe it's actually banned. I think manufacturers took it out due to fear of future claims against them.
