Dirty Buggane
So the remaining questions are, 1)are we forking out millions on the equipment for one small amount, or the false promise that it will pay for itself in a year and send countless managers who will never be able to grasp the workings but will be on a nice jolly instead of the people who will actually be working it to transform the coal tar into unicorn poop that can be buried 2)is there anybody qualified on island who has the system/plant and people to operate system 3)are we going to employ an off island contractor with the plant/equipment and track record of value for money. 4)is it cheaper just to ship it Sorry my bet would be option one Edited November 16, 2023 by Dirty Buggane
Moghrey Mie
Are we still waiting to see what they can do with the bottom ash from the incinerator? Or has that problem been solved?

So we pay to incinerate and then we pay to landfill the bottom ash. https://www.gov.im/media/1374923/2020_waste_statistics_final.pdf

Fred the shred
And this is before the expensive sea wall operation commences from 500 thousand to nine hundred thousand…just like that…even allowing for inflation fro, 2018 when the original price was estimated this is going it a bit. 2

Inflation? Have you read the news article that very clearly explains the increase in steel and other materials? It’s all easily verified with a two minute google of commodity costs over the last few years. I think the sea wall is a joke, but you can’t seriously claim the increase in costs isn’t justified over the last 5 years? Fred the shred
There are a lot of people who cannot believe it and even more that doubt it will end there. Watch this space another mini landing stage fiasco coming into play soon. By the way I thought you were sure that work on that dreadful eyesore in Duke Street was going to be up and running weeks ago.

My thoughts have always been nothing would ever happen till the New Year. Where’s the labour coming from this close to Xmas. Am sure there’s other issues they have too not least getting suppliers for equipment and materials.
emesde
It seems that there has been a large drop in number of users of the horse trams on the prom. Gosh what a surprise Mr Crookall said direct income to the Department of Infrastructure from the service had fallen from £140,000 in 2018 to £44,000 when run on a shortened track this year.. Well he is at least consistent Hundreds of thousands lost introducing an incredibly stupid system of parking at the airport. Now losing huge amounts of customers and income on the horse tram that run from nowhere to nowhere (except on Mondays when it doesn't run at a all) Other countries in Europe are moving forward and improving. This island is soon going to become an irrelevant backwater if things go on as they are. The people making the decisions really need to get their priorities sorted and then get people in positions to get the right things done.

Kopek
One's attitude to this news depends on one's attitude to the continued running of the Horse Trams? Get rid of them!!!
