Cheers. So very, very lucky then. And now we are letting the man ultimately responsible at the time and many years before , having actually crashed a tram since, loose on them again?

Don't forget that the occurrence of the runaway incident was initially denied as well. It was only when passengers concerned went public with their experience to the press that it started to come out.

Even says in the report, that they tried to cover-up!   It's not a item of national security, so why should anything be withheld?

following a Freedom of Information request by Isle of Man Newspapers.

It took more than three months for the Department of the Environment, Food and Agriculture to publish the report, due to consultation being carried out with the DoI and the Attorney General’s chambers over how much information should be withheld.

Does Chris Thomas not know when to stop? He got his extra cash for raods that are fine but he was on MR non-apologising again. To paraphrase "Only 10,000 people will being paying £65 which is more than they were paying before for EV's, small cars and low emmissions.... thank you for your contribution.... it could be more because it's being subsidised by those paying over £200"

First of all, 'thankyou for contributing' as if it was voluntary donation and not a tax.

Also so see there is concerted effort in Tromode to improve the surface with new tarmac.... on the pavements. Guess that is all that the DoI has left to do before they get to go hide on the Mountain Circuit for 4 weeks in April. Then we get to play 'spot the difference' when it reopens.

But this extra cash will not go on roads it will go in the kitty, he has already been allocated his piece of the pie for this year which he complained about and warned that the road repairs would fall short ,apart from the TT course, obviously .    Putting  Mr Bumble in charge of the DOI was a big mistake.

I find it totally unnaceptable that a major route form the north into Douglas is closed for at least 10% of the year, particularly when 'road tax' goes up and up, for the purposes of something other than its primary use. And to add insult to injury parts of the coast road are falling apart.

Don't forget that wasn't the only Snaefell runaway. There was another where the tram came off the rails and was obliterated.

Fortunately it was empty.

You have to ask how in almost 120 years of operation there was almost no runaway incidents yet they managed two in 2016 and 2017 alone.

Great tendering DoI. Just wonderful

I did wonder about this the other week. Thought it had been a while.

The NPM reports the DOI has been fined £18000 having been in breach of H&S laws as a result of an electric tram derailment. Don’t worry folks, Minister Thomas will be hitting social media to defend his department. Perhaps he may care to pay the fine out of his salary? Fine the taxpayer, and the person committing the offence walks away, with their pensions intact.

And might even be coming back as a seasonal driver....

Although anybody who got on a tram that he was operating, with his driving record, would need to give their head a wobble.

Maintenance or lack of.

Remember, DOI (and by extension some of their constituent organisations) don't 'do' maintenance. Far too low brow to be involved or bothered with that sort of thing.
