Omobono
Just as well Glover is the constituency MHK and a political member the DOI it would be too embarrassing if professor Thomas the font of all knowledge had to answer a question regarding the spelling , time this department shaped up or shut down , !

Alison,a councillor somewhere, is complaining about the DOi passing on highway maintenance to the councils. Any idea what this is referring to? Does this mean a reduction in car tax if highway maintenance is farmed out to councils? Thanks to Minister Gawne. The local authorities seemed to like the idea at the time. At least they could be photographed in front of a vehicle. https://www.gov.im/news/2015/may/18/discussions-to-continue-over-delivery-of-local-services/ Edited April 4, 2023 by Moghrey Mie

Omobono
you know the moral of the story, be careful what you wish for particularly where the DOI is concerned , they don't want to be want to be held responsible for anything , just sit in the Ivory tower and blame everyone else ,

Even 8 years on some of them still haven't.

Professor Thomas friend of the mega rich with some very wealthy mates one of which was so kind to pay for Chris to take a private jet to Liverpool to see the Rolling Stones all expenses paid. Now thats what you call a favour and a half I wonder if he would let us all know who paid for that. Every other mhk declares where their free meals, tickets, dinners come from, but for some reason the DOI minister has been a bit vague to date 1
CallMeCurious
So the £2 bus fare cap didn't attract any extra passengers. Shocker... Another 'seen to be doing something' culture project fails again with a £140,000 price tag for 4 months (plus hidden CS costs to administer it etc.) Infrastructure Minister Chris Thomas MHK said: ‘We have a great bus service here in the Isle of Man and I’d encourage everyone to make the most of it. The fare cap has resulted in a small increase in passengers and seen added value and savings for existing users. Extending the fare cap is welcome and it will enable the team at Bus Vannin to continue supporting our community whilst the review of pricing is concluded.’ Possibly something to do with it being winter, most people who were the presumed target have cars already bought and insured, non-existent or basically shite faciliites at the main terminals... Just not a practical or attractive alternative for the majority in the dark winter months and Xmas shopping etc. Or any time really. Maybe if they got out of their ivory towers and used the services for even a week in November or December, they might start to understand why. So once again it'll be all stick and no carrot. Make driving and parking so expensive and restricitve until only the elite can afford it and the plebs will just have to suffer the service they are given. Why are we trying to get 100,000 again? If they were serious about making this work they would have restricted parking in Douglas for all but those with a disability badge. Then put the wheels in motion for a proper park and ride, not the half arsed one they tried a few years ago either.
Ringy Rose
Compared to what gets served up across, the bus service here is anything but shite. Somewhere nice to wait in Douglas wouldn’t go amiss though. Waiting on Lord Street is grim. All the more grim knowing the waste ground behind it was a bus station, but they closed it for “savings”.

So what it has demonstrated is that the price is not the bar to increased usage, so it must be something else. Possibly timetable and routes. 2

Possibly consider the following Douglas-Pulrose-Farmhill-Anagh Coar Douglas-Willaston - Onchan Douglas - North Douglas - South Etc etc I've personally never been a fan of the all island route where the bus that goes through Onchan has come from the south of the Island

Perhaps we're just too impatient about our own personal journeys to put up with having to use communal transport?

If you think about it, it makes good sense.

A gift of this nature isn't a pint and a slice of birthday cake so the question could be asked who was it and who else was on the private jet if anyone.

Also gives South based commuters direct service to and from the offices in Summerhill etc. And means of an evening they can catch a bus home from the Prom.
