Anyone who can make head or tail of their utilities bill is a hero to me, but it's correct, we pay a lot more for electricity on the island, and don't get me started on gas!

How do we pay more for electricity?  All the figures are in the last couple of pages proving that we don’t!

You got that fire yet? Would you like me to deliver it for you?

You'll be able to retire on the amount you save by using it.

We have spent all day “debating”

You seem proud to have been out.

I have also been out for lunch and a few beers, and am now home cooking dinner for my family.

You have been asked numerous questions and not answered them.

You have been given opportunities to explain what you are talking about, and not taken them.

You have accused me of needing a carer.

You have called me a fuck wit.

You haven’t once come back with any evidence to counter what I have posted.

hmmm

Sorry, I hadn't seen that table, I was going by reports from people I know in the UK who live in similar sized housing to me.

It does indeed look as though we are in a reasonably close region to most areas of the UK, although historically, as I'm sure you know, we have been a lot more expensive in the past.

The cost of energy has generally gone stratospheric, despite the lowering of gas and oil prices, I feel there is an element of profiteering, which should be stamped on.

Go and buy your electric fire FFS.

Sit there smug in front of it in the mistaken belief it costs you less to run than it would in the UK.

You've provided the evidence yourself, you're just too thick to interpret it.

FFS

Explain why it’s more expensive then, and try and do it without being rude.

You are aware that the daily standing charge is part of your electricity bill and that there are 365 days in a year?

This thread is going down in the anals of history.

You could always say who you think is wrong.  If it’s me I will suck it up, but considering I am “debating” with someone who thinks they aren’t currently training bus drivers despite them being seen on the roads and it reported in the news …….

The fact that you already have an electricity supply in your house means you're already paying the standing charge.

If you go and buy an electric fire you'll still be paying the standing charge. They won't charge you again, they won't let you off the one you're already paying, it' ll stay exactly the same.

What will change is the amount of units of electricity you use.

We pay more for each unit of electricity than they do in the UK. I found that out by using the figures you provided but obviously don't understand.

Therefore, your electric fire will cost you more to run here than it would in the UK.

It really is that simple. I really don't see what you're struggling with.

Goodnight.

Hilarious

PS. I have been careful not to say it costs less to run a fire or any appliance here because I could see which moronic route you were heading down.

Just admit you're wrong for once, you should be used to it by now.

Are you seriously trying to remove the context of the entire discussion just because you've lost?

Go and buy your fire.

Goodnight yourself.

Obviously you're not.

Have you noticed the only person who agreed with you today has subsequently apologised for being wrong.

Nobody will back me up because nobody here wants to be seen to agree with me, but rest assured if I was wrong there would be a pile on.

So, I did spend a few minutes on this partly out of interest, and partly because @A fool and his money..... was spouting bollocks.

I would say we are fairly average usage at 2900 KWh a year, we pay MUA £70 a month.

The total costs for areas of the UK are below based on the figures I found online.  The figures seem pretty accurate based on some shopping around for quotes based on our usage at different UK post codes with different suppliers.

I am not really seeing what the issue is.  Our very low standing charge keeps our lower users (presumably the less wealthy) paying less than the UK and our moderate users towards the lower end of t#what you would pay in UK.

Obviously based on not being on PAYG, I have no idea how we compare there.

The issue with your analysis is your name's not Roger Mexico and also you're not moaning about the gov enough
