2112
He could have been wearing a Visit IOM sponsored pair of sunglasses, and a Rob Callister wristwatch.
Declan
It is interesting news in the world of cycling. Whether it’s Manx news is another matter and the Manx Radio story makes a dogs dinner of explaining it. He’s signed to a new team but has an existing eyeware sponsorship so the firm that sponsors the new team’s glasses has cancelled their agreement with the team.

Is that where he smashes your timepiece that was working perfectly well, then promised to replace it for you with a new and better timepiece, only find out that years later still don't have a timepiece. The Voice of Reason
This sponsorship business. Presumably the idea is to increase sales by associating your product with a particular sportsperson or celebrity. But are people that feeble minded that they would buy a particular manufacturer just because X orY wears them? Particularly knowing that X or Y are paid to do so. Yes most people are also happy to advertise this stuff for free even paying a premium to do so!
Weliveinhope
I'll never understood why we havent used the likes of Cav and Peter Kennaugh etc to promote the island. I mean what better role models for an outdoor active lifestyle could you want than a TDF legend and an olympic champion. Yet we erect statues of pop stars who lived here for 5 minutes and comedians from the 30s.
The Phantom
Fairly common in cycling actually. Very similar happened recently with Geraint Thomas who has notoriously worn the same style of (now discontinued) glasses for years. Both him and Cav are longterm sponsored by Oakley. Some of their glasses are quite bold looking, but I can confirm that after trying many options of sunglasses over the years for casual and riding, Oakley are without a doubt the best. Both their new teams are sponsored by less well known and arguably not so great sunglass brands. Not just glasses though. You'll quite often find that a team might use Brand X wheels when they are sponsored by Brand Y. But they'll usually cover up the branding logos etc so you can't see. It's a bit more obvious with a pair of sunnies though. It's not all marketing hype though. These brands sponsor the athletes and teams so that the best in the world can undertake R&D on the products, provide feedback, improvements etc.

It's partly to build brand recognition as well.
