It's a bomb hoax or at least I hope its a hoax. I have no idea where this image originated but it's circulating amongst the kids on Snapchat.

Depressingly that's the first thing I thought. Militant TERF who is still enraged by Drag Queens teaching fisting has bomb threated the place!

Is that a photo of a policeman carrying an automatic rifle, a pistol strapped to his leg like John Wayne,  and using a black balaclava to hide his identity in case the IRA decides to shoot him?

In the old days a photo of someone with a black balaclava and a gun was the IRA or some middle-eastern terrorists. These days it's the police.

Wonder if Energy FM will apologise for their irresponsible "reporting".

Quite.  Hard to read the text, but you can just make it out. It makes you wonder how sensible this 'investigative reporting' was.

No doubt the threat was a bit of mischief, but ....

Depressingly, the first thing I thought was US Evangelist.

Considering the amount of non-IOM comments on that original Energy FM "report"

The message reads;

"We placed a bomb in Queen Elizabeth II High School

"You are disgusting degenerates and you will die for it.  We placed a bomb in the school and at Peel castle.  Bombs will soon detonate of the havn't already. Fuck you and your drags queens."

It's the threat to Peel Castle that's the real puzzle.  It's not even open for the season yet (MNH sites start from Saturday) so there wouldn't even have been any people in it except a few staff getting things ready or people doing restoration work.  It's separated from the rest of the town, so nothing else was affected.  And threatening to blow up a ruin is .... odd.

It makes you think that, if it was a threat, it came from off-Island and from someone who had never been here and just picked what they thought would be the most prominent place in the town.

Either way, if Energy hadn’t gone to press with a load of made up rubbish and if the island wasn’t inhabited by so many nobs who jumped on it without understanding what they were commenting on this wouldn’t have happened.

Its embarrassing for the island.

You can't be serious. A petrol-soaked balaclava is not going to do anyone any good. And they all are required to carry identification anyway.

And on the IoM if you want to know who were the police involved in this, try the Manx Arms (public bar) later on this evening.

Not many things annoy me (well, maybe quite a few) but British and Manx police concealing their identity is one of them.

At a Glasgow/Edinburgh international event a few months ago, did not some of the elite snipers post selfies?

I am on holiday at the moment. All the police here carry a pistol on their waistband - no body-armour, not on their leg. If it is necessary for them to shoot someone, do they all carry a balaclava and don it before shooting?
