Isle of Ireland

Has it been filmed? If it was being used as a location you would have heard IOMG dick waving division singing loudly, no doubt getting nostalgic for the old days of the island being used as a film location, and it’s previous film making industry.

Minister Allinson will be singing songs from the Eddie Teare songbook, about Bednights.

Did you actually read the article or look at the title of the post?

Wasn't this the series that hit the local news a while ago?  Many were asking how we could have missed out given it is set here.

Maybe we were "out tax-breaked"? IF it was filmed in the Irish Republic, are they now in a position to offer greater such advantages than we are now?

If Suranne Jones was on the Island then there would have been pictures on news sites etc. Doubt it was filmed here

That's the point, it wasn't filmed here but is set here.  There was some news coverage about it.

The Manx Film Industry was mostly a racket from start to finish. Slick accounting, tax fiddles and 'overseas investors' (Money laundering to you and me). Who the hell would have put money into most of the lame turkeys that were made on the Island and which went straight to foreign distributors or were never even produced ? The Manx taxpayer did and we got fleeced. Thankyou and goodnight.

Think of the Bed Nights, and all that spending in the local economy .,….. of which VAT is payable etc. it wasn’t something which led ultimately to an industry which the island could truly claim was unique, and created loads of jobs which lasted 25 years or more.

It didn't create anything. An overnight industry and gone in a puff.

You are right and I was trying to say that, but even today the mantra of Eddie Teare ring around IOMG in particular Bed Nights, and it permeates into their thinking.
