Going back to the election Undercover Ashy was viewed nearly 1300 times but the old ducks still voted for him

''Will he be remembered simply as the sombre almost black & white 1940's Pathe News figure who in a way vaguely reminiscent of a very dull Churchill or Mountbatten addressed the nation and its troops in its time of crisis? Or as the smug and sneaky letter-shredder, serial rebuttal promiser, and self-proclaimed specialist code writer who appeared to be an integral part of a smear campaign against someone who was regarded by many as a person who was genuinely trying to improve our front-line pandemic defences much to the general chagrin of those who didn't seem to be getting the need for science in amongst all the ordering people about, mass internment, and shutting things down.''

Smear campaign?

And we've already pulled back the curtain on the Wizard of Oz and its clear that he's just some bloke in a badly fitting Topshop waistcoat who buys his £2.99 sandwich every day in M&S being pulled by levers and invisiblewires [which no voter in Douglas North will ever control] from behind the scenes.

That is just one example from the link you posted above. There’s plenty more in there.

There are others that suggest, nay mock, that having once worked in a bar makes you unfit to be an MHK. Not something I understand.

And pray tell what is so awful about buying a £2.99 sandwich from Marksies for your lunch. I don’t see that as anything to sneer at.

Howard O'Clock and beating saucepans on doorsteps each Thursday night were proof that humans are imbeciles.

All of it was a complete and utter sham.

There are millions (billions) of people around the world living a lovely healthy life vaccination free BUT 'they'll' tell you it's because the strain has diminished or herd immunity was reached.

We were forced to take it in order to get off and return here without being imprisoned in a bedroom for 14 / 21 days (or worse, the Jurby Hilton).

Hideous times .........

Yes and a time when imposed public imbecility gave him the perfect window of opportunity to indulge in his politics fantasy as people were brainwashed. Actually just read that link above and I could actually believe the fantasist might actually try to pull a stunt like that.

The fact this guy was given an MBE & is lauded for his efforts actually turns my stomach, though I shouldn't be surprised - the world is a genuinely f***ed up place now.

If David Ashford had anything about him in terms of humility, conscience or public spirit any questions about  his suitability for political roles in the future would not be relevant as he would simply resign from politics now.
Not only has he damaged his own reputation, he has helped damage the reputation of the IOM Government, a senior Doctor and done huge damage to our health service by making it difficult to attract medical staff into senior roles here. That might have implications for all of us who need the service now and in the future. His MBE nomination was premature and misguided and now throws the whole system of awards into further disrepute. There are people on the Island who have put much into the community through their selfless efforts and have received an MBE as a result. Ashford makes a mockery of their service.

Well I wouldn’t worry about him resigning  from politics.

With all these charges against him you list, and those that others have made,  it is unthinkable he would be re-elected in the future ( should he choose to stand again of course)

The mere fact we as taxpayers continue to pay for Ashford to glory in the title of MHK is an affront !

He should be disqualified from public office forthwith with Hooper trailing not far behind.

Surely the least we can ask for these clowns is that they are accountable !

I don't think anyone takes the awards system seriously, didn't David Camerons hairdresser get a knighthood or somehing?

There isn't a biotech company that will touch the IoM with a barge pole now either. My experience of being dragged through the papers following my PAC genomics evidence session, with David alluding to me having lied about the content of the DHSC's own legal letters ("we refute everything, I'll be providing a point-by-point rebuttal") was a dismal showcase in how "small island" the place is. It's no place for high-tech companies when politicians behave like this to high-tech company directors giving evidence in good faith.

Hey, Howard O'Clock was the highlight of lockdown.

I honestly don't know what time is acceptable to crack out the booze anymore.

Haven't Starship Enterprise got a whole team of superheroes trying to develop a biotech sector here? 😆

He will stand again and he will be elected.

You're really sweet but you're hellish naive.

There are people in life who are not all they seem. They gravitate toward positions of power. In order to keep that power, they act, on the outside like the pillar of our communities. They help people, they are benevolent, they are tireless in their works to 'do good'.

It's hard for them to keep it up and from time to time they fuck up. They pretend to be far cleverer than they are and then they come to believe it and they go too far. The urge to hold their power overrides any other feelings and so they make excuses, play the victim, feign forgetfulness, blame others, remind others of their previous good actions...

These people are everywhere. You only have to look as establishments like the church, the government, law enforcement, health, spirituality to see this in play. The policeman who raped four women but everyone in his street thought he was a really nice chap. The Bishops and priests equally abusing children but whose parishioners refused to believe a word of it because they helped them out when their husband died/lost their job/left them. Cognitive dissonance plays a huge part here - people only see what they want to see and find it hard to see what's in front of their face.
