offshoremanxman
The postal service is absolutely sub standard crap here as it is. If they do this I can’t imagine how slow it will be.

Omobono
difference is Royal Mail deliver 6 days a week , Isle of of Man post 5 days but you can exclude Monday's as often the UK mail is not delivered until Tuesday , with the way the airport had been running the mail would be just as quick going out on the evening ferry and into the Royal mail hub , items coming here should be easier no silly rules about flight restrictions , and some things possibly a day later , Parcel force is a good service and reliable , when you see the losses Royal mail have been experiencing you can understand their problem , but we seem to be awash with money ,as it seems every postal worker now has a van some electric , and no one humping bags of letters ,and the machine does all the sorting ,

A. Better than the current shit service B. Worse than the current shit service C. Much worse than the current shit service And they ignore all the feedback and opt for C as it’s cheaper and they literally couldn’t give a toss what their service users either want or expect as it’s just another embarrassing public sector shit show of arrogance and incompetence. Moghrey Mie
More and more people seem to be realising that the Isle of Man is not part of the UK eg credit card companies and acting accordingly.

As in, it takes as many people to staff it as were previously employed in manually sorting (to wit, 10 including one who has to man a prodding stick to free stuck parcels), it won't sort about 1/3rd of parcels that it can't read the addresses on and lots of proven, established delivery practices have had to be altered to accommodate its "shortcomings", the main fallout of which is slower deliveries to the areas outlying Douglas (because naturally, no criticism can dare be directed at the new machine). All this from a source within the P.O....

NoTailT
The major implications I foresee 1) Jobs, WestAtlantic maintenance facility. 2) Some CI businesses highlighted in the article, but we have numerous distribution businesses based here that are B2C. Especially in the Balthane. This could be problematic.

This is the sort of nonsense that we see continuously in Isle of Man Government. Some high-up manager see a piece of kit they fancy and then makes up a flimsy case why it is 'needed' or just buys it anyway. Rather than analysing what the actual requirements of the organisation are and then investigating what solutions would best fit them and costing out if it is worth making the change.
