Lxxx
Not necessarily the island's fault but the positives of living here, which were slowly being eroded, have now quickened up the pace. 3

As in, it takes as many people to staff it as were previously employed in manually sorting (to wit, 10 including one who has to man a prodding stick to free stuck parcels), it won't sort about 1/3rd of parcels that it can't read the addresses on and lots of proven, established delivery practices have had to be altered to accommodate its "shortcomings", the main fallout of which is slower deliveries to the areas outlying Douglas (because naturally, no criticism can dare be directed at the new machine). All this from a source within the P.O.... No doubt one of the old ones who doesn’t like change, didn’t want it & can see his cushy job going! No one wants letters so no need for Saturday letters.

woolley
Letter post is hardly a thing now though, is it? It's pretty much all junk and bills for those who are too old to arrange to do it online. It's hard to justify a loss making government enterprise to deliver the remaining traditional post. Very soon it will be a parcels delivery business and nothing more, and government ownership will seem increasingly anachronistic.

Nothing to do with the UK Government since in 2015 George Osbourne sold the remaining 30% of shares that the Government owned

I’m sick of refunding buyers in eBay for late and delayed stuff. The service here is in general crap.

Royal Mail’s strategy is to start by carving out all the profitable bits then get the begging bowl out for the rest. The group overall made a profit in 2022 of £700m, but just the Royal Mail letters bit lost a billion a year later? If you believe that I’ve got a bridge you might be interested in. Letter deliveries have been loss making for years, when you’ve got to deliver to outer Hebrides for same price as local delivery then it’s obvious, also Saturday letter deliveries, outdated union practices etc etc
A fool and his money.....
I'm surprised Stu Peters hasn't sorted this one out, quietly and without any fuss before the public were aware of it. Then again, actually I'm not. I think, especially in the case of politicians, it's important to judge someone by what they do, rather than what they say they do.
