Prom and first sea wall originally built between 1860’s (Loch) and 1890 (Queens). Narrow. Widened along whole length in 1930’s. Widening was huge. Sunken Gardens and grass patches on Queens. Second, new, sea wall built. 1

You do not get them where the sunken gardens or North end as the water is to deep for the power at the top of the waves to effect them. When calm the water would be at least 3 metres below the walkway even on a high tide, what would you say the drop between the prom walkway and the tide at low water. At a guess I would say 15 metres. So in my eyes you are all talking guff. Have you never seen the North or South end of the promenade after a storm? Covered in debris. Oh, and what about the destruction of the sunken garden walls last year? All caused by the power of the waves coming up against a high sea wall with no mitigation for that power.

A bit of sea weed no rocks. The walls of the sunken gardens had there foundations seriously weakened by piling done for the instalation of prom tanks, they were also held together by limemorter which after 70 nay 90 years is no longer at its best. Just look at an old manx build house or most of the prom boarding houses

Rocks can still be flung up, but anyone who thinks the debris that comes over by the empress now would still come over if they dug the beach down is delulu. Funnily enough, since the beach has been higher yes there has been debris on the seaward side but I don't recall the premises being flooded like they were back in ? 2003 (maybe 02). Because the waves have broken already and they just wash up the top of the beach and onto the walkway. Whichever way you look at it, lower the beach and you'll get more overtopping. John has provided pretty conclusive evidence. I can add more if you like.

No, you'd just have big waves and more water, and likely property flooding on the other side... watch @John Wright's video.

Numbnuts
Im more interested in seeing how long , after it’s built , will this new sea wall last. My money is still on the sea winning this one. The power of the sea is formidable .
Two-lane
How about the graffiti artists viewing the new sea wall as a blank canvas.
