Rocks can still be flung up, but anyone who thinks the debris that comes over by the empress now would still come over if they dug the beach down is delulu. I think you are confusing two different things. The stones and sand that come over now are being pushed over. However in a big storm the waves can easily lift rocks and stones and they can come from 100ms down the beach as the roll forward. You will always get rocks whether to drop the beach level or not. 22 hours ago, Capt_Mainwaring said: But the sea comes over with much more power, that's the point. More overtopping. Funnily enough, since the beach has been higher yes there has been debris on the seaward side but I don't recall the premises being flooded like they were back in ? 2003 (maybe 02). Because the waves have broken already and they just wash up the top of the beach and onto the walkway. Whichever way you look at it, lower the beach and you'll get more overtopping. John has provided pretty conclusive evidence. I can add more if you like. Yes. You will get more overtopping of water but less sand and stonesst being pushed over. 22 hours ago, Capt_Mainwaring said: No, you'd just have big waves and more water, and likely property flooding on the other side... watch @John Wright's video. Whilst the video is interesting and explains the basic hydraulics. A mathematical model is more accurate. Waves in small tanks behave slightly differently to real size sea waves. The hydraulics of water does not scale exactly. It certain demonstrates the idea very well though.
The Phantom
It looks like shit, it smells like shit and it's a couple 100m from an untreated sewage outlet. Yet according to MUA it's naturally occurring scum. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/naturally-occurring-foam-and-scum-photographed-on-peel-beach-says-mua/

The Phantom
Well they've got heavy plant razzing up and down the beach (looks fun to be fair) digging out the sand and pebbles from the Empress and dumping it at the War Memorial.

That started yesterday and all the sand they are dumping down near the Sea Terminal will be washed back to where it was originally, complete waste of money

They dump seaweed at the water's edge and now doing the same with the sand. You couldn't make this up...

All the Island Nurseries should get down for a field trip (hint - hearts and minds). Do you know how long they are planning on it taking? Is this a one off (it won't work) or going to be a regular thing (every year or two and might work).
