Asthehills
This might not be the right thread. But if you wanted an example of how rich/able to lose loads of money you need to be to be an early adopter of some of these stupid new technologies then here it is. Electric vehicles are developing at such a pace that anything a few years old is pants in comparison to a new one. Hydrogen/synthetic fuels for the win anyway. ICE cars are holding their money better than ever, with certain models appreciating or nearly new ones selling more than new so people can avoid waiting lists. But hydrogen and synthetic fuels are by definition less efficient than electric vehicles, because you need to use the electricity for their manufacture. Of course they do have the advantage of being more storable. But I can't see the logic of saying that people who go for a new(ish) technology are fools - and then advocating choosing even newer ones instead. As for Tesla prices they seem have been continuously changing recently. Make a big splash about cuts and then quietly sneak them back up seems to be the plan. So I wouldn't predict the future of the entire industry from a single dealer offer.

Let's face it, they are American.

Hardly a new technology

So not really true synthetic fuels (which would involve removing carbon etc from the atmosphere), but more rebranded biomass, which may be even worse for the environment than fossil fuels.

Should have said nuclear powers stations are way above even our budget. Also we can't stop Victorian trams running out of control, what hope with a nuclear chain reaction? Like the trams, we'd just deny it happened or at the very least delay the news. Just like Chernobyl. Russia and the KGB have nothing on Manx civil servants.
