Isle of Man ferry operator Isle of Man Steam Packet Company (IoMSP) has been taken into public ownership. Trade Union Nautilus has cautiously welcomed a ‘definitive agreement’ on the purchase of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company by the Isle of Man Government. Described by ministers as “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to take strategic control of the island’s sea services on behalf of the nation”, the £124M (US$168M) deal is subject to Tynwald (Isle of Man parliament) approval. Albert Tatlock
Taxpayers money (Cost of buying steam Racket) - cost of new boat - advertising - salaries + fares - sponsorship - maintenance costs + profits - milk it for a govt pension pot deduction = fook all left.

So it could be possible but wouldn't be great long term and would sacrifice reliability/sailings in adverse weather There’s a mismatch between the No 1 ( Manannan berth ) link span and the Manxman ramp. She was there on Tuesday when I sailed in from Belfast. Manannan had to standoff in the bay whilst they did one of the Maritime Evacuation trials. Apart from the odd idiot driving off the linkspan into the harbour it looks doable!
