Taxpayers money?

Isn’t it Steam Packet money?

Isle of Man ferry operator Isle of Man Steam Packet Company (IoMSP) has been taken into public ownership.

Trade Union Nautilus has cautiously welcomed a ‘definitive agreement’ on the purchase of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company by the Isle of Man Government.

Described by ministers as “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to take strategic control of the island’s sea services on behalf of the nation”, the £124M (US$168M) deal is subject to Tynwald (Isle of Man parliament) approval.

That very obviously doesn’t mean it taxpayers money that is being spent 😂

Just an observation the Manxman is berthed on the Manannans linkspan so the Manannan docked on the Ben's linkspan all tickety boo so why do we need to spend millions extending the dolphin when they could just stick with that arrangement?

Actually using the linkspan or just on number 1 berth?

Can only use the Manannan linkspan at certain tide heights and the Ben's linkspan vulnerable to certain wind directions.

So it could be possible but wouldn't be great long term and would sacrifice reliability/sailings in adverse weather

There’s a mismatch between the No 1 ( Manannan berth ) link span and the Manxman ramp. She was there on Tuesday when I sailed in from Belfast. Manannan had to standoff in the bay whilst they did one of the Maritime Evacuation trials.

Apart from the odd idiot driving off the linkspan into the harbour it looks doable!

What dick arranges fireworks in the bay with the ship on a school night?

10.30pm tonight (Sunday) Douglas Bay.

This. More than two thirds of the potential viewing population missed out on this tonight.

It was a good display...watched by relatively few.

ETA: Most of the people who will end up actually paying for this boat and the Liverpool landing stage were tucked up in bed heading to school tomorrow.
