Roger Mexico
The timing is very interesting - a day before the last meeting of Tynwald for the (legislative) year. So Thomas will get to make some sort of statement in Tynwald tomorrow, which may not be comfortable for Cannan. Especially with the potential rows over FoI and HSCC already possible. And it will mean one less vote for things. Last time Thomas was sacked (by Quayle/Greenhow) the reason was because he wanted to vote against CoMin decision on which he would normally expect an exemption. This may be something similar. Though the real reason any Minister gets sacked is because the top civil servants want rid of them.
Banker
Maybe Crookall back & Callister returns to MUA . Cabinet office minister does nothing & Poole-Wilson has been very disappointing with lack of visibility/communication in anything

The Staff Hind Quarters leading from the rear... Seems to me there's confusion around leadership and/or management just for starters. If IOM public servants are still layered in pyramid structures then those at the top are probably too far removed from the coalface to actually know what's going on. So clearly they can't properly manage the activity. For me the classic example of this failing was the excuse the Directoress gave for the shambles of the security screening at Ronaldsway. When confronted with the issue she claimed she hadn't done anything about it because she didn't know there was a problem...! Of course the nodding dogs failed to censure her because not knowing what's going on in your department seems to be the norm and therefore acceptable practice. Personally I don't see it ever changing because the current system matches the capability of the incumbents....

What was the tipping point? Airport or Liverpool Ferry Terminal? Who will take on the poisoned chalice, or who is brave enough? CM Cannan claims the Department is in need of reform. Alf Cannan was previously a Treasury Minister and COMIN member so was in position to influence and encourage reform but did nothing. What’s the barriers to reform, political inertia or civil servants with various agendas? Finally will Chris Thomas be quiet or be a one man opposition? Before he got involved in being a COMIN member he was a normal freethinking person, then the political blob got a hold of him. Right Let's see what Alf Cannan can do to achieve 'rapid reform'. Sums up the Isle of Man really. That clown was the fertiliser on the rot that was starting to take hold at the time he was there. He was the instigator of the Terminal business. 4

That absolute clown is responsible for a huge amount that is now working its way through the system.
Numbnuts
Cannan taking on the DOI now. Is that because he thinks he’s great at CM ? He’s been an abject failure and too often missing in action. Now he is taking on the poisoned chalice that is the DOI. Mmm good luck with that because unless he bites the bullet and kicks out so many useless CS in that department he’s going to fail. It’s clear that there has been too many totally disasters in that department to not have a clear out. Is it happening ? Not a chance ! . Declan
He'd sell the Mannanin for £140 million then buy a better replacement from Egypt for £34m. 1
